Candy Dust and Gold Juice by BORNTOSTANDOUT – The New Eau Intimité Collection

The South Korean niche fragrance label BORNTOSTANDOUT is exceptionally active and regularly launches new, innovative creations. Fragrances that may seem provocative and rebellious at first glance but often turn out to be surprisingly sophisticated, wearable, and simply beautiful on the skin. Among the brand’s latest releases are Candy Dust and Gold Juice. Both of these Eaux de Toilette are part of the new, limited-edition Eau Intimité line. The name alone suggests that BORNTOSTANDOUT is revealing a slightly more intimate side this time around.

Eau Intimité – A Delicate Veil of Fragrance

With Eau Intimité, BORNTOSTANDOUT strikes a more subdued note without abandoning the brand’s rebellious signature style. We carry two fragrances from this limited-edition line in our Aus Liebe zum Duft collection. They are designed to be more transparent, lighter, and closer to the skin than many of the brand’s previous creations. They are meant to be worn like a second skin: a delicate, olfactory veil that blends with the body’s warmth.

But BORNTOSTANDOUT wouldn’t be BORNTOSTANDOUT if these minimalist creations didn’t also surprise with exciting, sophisticated accents. The brand’s signature style remains intact, but in Eau Intimité it reveals a more subtle, intimate side.

Candy Dust – Spray-On Cotton Candy

With Candy Dust, this South Korean niche fragrance label evokes images of carnivals, colorful candies, and childhood memories—moments of happiness and carefree joy. Perfumer Julie Massé has created a composition that, even on paper, evokes the scent of sweets and carefree enjoyment. But just how sweet does Candy Dust actually smell on the skin?

Top notes: bergamot, raspberry, pear
; Middle notes: gourmand notes, milk, peony
; Base notes: sugar, moss, ambergris, tonka bean

Candy Dust opens with an enveloping sweetness that carries fruity, sweet notes of pear and raspberry, subtly underscored by a hint of citrus zest. But at the heart of the creation are gentle, powdery-soft, and airy facets that evoke cotton candy and toasted sugar. Milky-creamy nuances flow in, accompanied by a deliciously vanilla-spiced note. The peony adds delicate, subtly aquatic floral accents to the composition, lending it an extra touch of lightness. Fluffy, soft as cotton candy, and wonderfully enveloping, Candy Dust is a gourmand, seductive eau de toilette with medium sillage and good longevity that is sure to appeal to anyone who loves sweet, playful fragrances and cotton candy.

Gold Juice – Tropical Extravaganza

For Gold Juice, perfumer Margaux Le Paih-Guérin uses an ingredient that certainly divides opinion: durian. The infamous tropical fruit is paired here with mango, enchanting blossoms, sunny notes, and creamy-sweet accents. An unusual blend that fits perfectly with BORNTOSTANDOUT’s experimental style. But how does this exotic combination translate on the skin?

Top notes: Rhubarb, tropical fruits, mango
; Middle notes: Osmanthus, white flowers, solar notes
; Base notes: Caramel, almond, guaiac wood

Gold Juice makes its presence felt right from the start: bold, incredibly fruity, and powerful. A colorful basket of tropical fruits, topped with very authentic mango notes, instantly creates a cheerful mood and South Seas vibes. The floral notes bring milky-creamy facets to the fragrance, which is very sunny, radiant, and juicy. In the drydown, creamy caramel and the creamy sweetness of toasted almonds provide a gourmand warmth and give the tropical fruitiness a wonderfully soft, smooth base. By the way, to my nose, there’s no trace of the infamous stinky fruit. Gold Juice is, rather, a lush, fruity, and wonderfully juicy tropical fragrance with mango clearly at its heart. For an eau de toilette, Gold Juice is surprisingly prominent and also stands out for its excellent longevity.
