Every time I review a new fragrance from Emil Élise, it’s like meeting up with old friends. I have been following the young brand from Essen since its beginnings. Not only here on the blog – I have also been able to attend various events to get to know the newly launched creations. So far, Choose Happiness is the only fragrance from the label that I haven’t tried yet. I hope that will change soon. Today, however, it’s Whispering Fire ‘s turn and I’m really looking forward to it.

Because I hope that Whispering Fire will follow the same olfactory path that Twisted Sin and Melting Lust have already taken. Present, finely balanced and beautifully composed creations that stood out for me in the brand’s broad portfolio. Both fragrances are really great and exceptionally well made. Twisted Sin convinces with a peppery cinnamon-apple note that is incredibly delicious, while Melting Lust combines warm, sensual cherry nuances with ambery-liqueur accents. Simply heavenly!
Emil Élise’s other fragrances are also very beautiful, but these two are definitely my favorites. Can Whispering Fire keep up with them? We’ll find out in a moment. But first I would like to refer you to my last posts on the Essen-based label, because if you are not yet familiar with the brand, you can read up on it here. Whispering Fire by Emil Élise – Light and shadow
As usual, relatively little is revealed about the fragrance itself. No perfumer is named and the press release also remains vague and suggestive. Fortunately, the fragrance notes are listed and these reveal a new olfactory direction. Whispering Fire is the first oud fragrance from the Emil Élise brand and I am very pleased that I do not detect any floral notes in the composition. No, the new eau de parfum seems to combine the precious incense with spicy and resinous nuances, which could be just to my taste.
I am the heart of the flame. Your nourishment. Your protection. Its secret. I move between light and shadow. Black pepper meets sacred myrrh. Incense penetrates the darkness. Fear becomes strength. Pain becomes calm. I am. More powerful than ever.
I’m getting on.
Unlike anyone.
Top notes: pepper, eaglewood (oud), myrrh, frankincense
Heart notes: ambergris, spices, clove, nutmeg
Base notes: moss, sugar, cashmere wood, woods
What does Whispering Fire by Emil Élise smell like?
Peppery, liqueur-like notes open Whispering Fire, soon followed by subtle, smoky oud and a cool incense mist that quickly recaptures the dry sharpness of the opening. The creation develops further with peppery incense and oud nuances. Myrrh brings greenish, herbaceous facets to the composition and underlines the cool smokiness, which is joined by sweet, warm nuances after a considerable amount of time. I also notice other spices – aromatic, profound accents with a subtle spiciness. The coolness of the incense still resonates at this stage of the fragrance, while fine, sugary facets combine with soft woods and creamy, earthy moss in the finish, rounding off the composition very harmoniously.
If you like warm, spicy-resinous, subtly smoky yet transparent eaux de parfum with delicate oud, lush spices and a sweet, soft finish, you may have found what you are looking for with Whispering Fire by Emil Élise. Thanks to its medium presence and good longevity, the fragrance is suitable for almost any occasion in the cooler months of the year. A beautiful and finely composed creation that is sure to find many friends. A clear test recommendation!
My classification within the collection
In my eyes, Whispering Fire is one of Emil Élise’s creations that has a little more depth and presence – similar to Twisted Sin and Melting Lust. I have to say quite clearly that this is my personal preference, because of course the brand’s other lighter fragrances have their own quality and justification. Even though I really like Whispering Fire, Melting Lust and Twisted Sin are still a tad ahead for me personally.
How do you compare Whispering Fire if you have already tested it?
