With Pana Dora Sweden, we’re once again heading to one of my favorite travel destinations. Sweden is our destination—specifically, the northernmost part of the country. Daydream and Nordhaven are the names of the two latest creations, which seem to draw inspiration not only from northern Sweden but also from a dash of Viking mythology.

Daydream – A Nordic Daydream
With *Daydream*, Pana Dora Sweden explores its gentle and dreamy side. The name alone evokes those small moments when you let your thoughts wander and leave everyday life behind for a moment. I’m particularly curious to see how Pana Dora Sweden incorporates aldehydes into the composition. To me, they often lend fragrances an elusive, almost ethereal aura, making them a perfect fit for the concept of a daydream.
Top notes: Aldehydes, cardamom, peach, clary sage, coriander, black currant
Middle notes: Iris, tuberose, ambergris, nagarmotha, thyme, narcissus, civet, oakmoss, myrtle, orchid
Base notes: Bourbon vanilla, patchouli, labdanum (rockrose), vetiver, ambergris, tonka bean
Spicy, herbaceous, and fruity, Daydream opens with a soft, cotton-like quality accompanied by weightless-seeming aldehydes. Almost immediately, the composition glides into a sea of creamy, light, and powdery florals. Green accents create intriguing contrasts with the floral-creamy, subtly soapy facets, while the herbaceous spiciness of the opening remains subtly perceptible. Gradually, mossy-earthy nuances and a delicate smoky sweetness join in, gently guiding the fragrance into the base. There, amber-like, woody, and powdery notes bring the composition to a harmonious close.
Daydream is an elegant, powdery-creamy fragrance with intense aldehyde notes. These not only lend the creation an ethereal lightness and transparency, but also evoke a sense of classic elegance. With moderate sillage and good longevity, this fragrance is ideal for everyday wear and the office. It’s just right for anyone who loves elegant fragrances with aldehydes.
Nordhaven – More of a floral dream than a Viking
Following the gentle, dreamy side of Daydream, Pana Dora Sweden strikes a seemingly bolder note with Nordhaven. Even the imagery conveys a powerful Nordic atmosphere with rugged coastlines, cool winds, and unmistakable Viking undertones. The fragrance notes also seem to point in this direction. This makes me all the more curious to see if these impressions are also reflected on the skin.
Top notes: Fruity notes, pink pepper, cyclamen, wine, datura (jimsonweed)
Middle notes: Ylang-ylang, tuberose, peony, violet, clementine, pineapple, cassia (sweet acacia), green notes
Base notes: Musk, cedarwood, moss, leather, sugar
Nordhaven opens with a fruity-sweet and powdery note, making it significantly more approachable than one might expect from a Viking-themed fragrance. Soon, creamy floral notes take the olfactory helm, forming an opulent, velvety-sweet bouquet that feels light, airy, and wonderfully fluffy. The composition is exceptionally dense and harmoniously interwoven, making it difficult to distinguish individual notes.
Nordhaven combines powdery, creamy floral notes with fruity-sweet nuances that, at times, seem almost tropical. To me, this creation also has certain aldehydic moments that lend the fragrance transparency and an almost ethereal lightness. Olfactorily, however, I find it difficult to grasp the connection to Vikings or northern Sweden—though this in no way detracts from the beauty of the composition. With its moderate sillage and excellent longevity, Nordhaven is a comforting floral dream that is sure to find many admirers thanks to its soft, harmonious character.
