Maison Crivelli is back – with a bang

The French fragrance house Maison Crivelli has recently returned to our range. We already had the brand in our portfolio a few years ago – and it was also a welcome guest here on the blog back then. While Maison Crivelli initially focused primarily on eaux de parfum, extraits de parfum have also been increasingly appearing in recent years. It is precisely these that I would like to focus on today and in the coming posts.

Maison Crivelli in the fragrance diary

It’s actually been a while since the last review of Maison Crivelli appeared here. Yet the brand’s fragrances are more topical than ever. I would also like to share an interview with founder Thibaud Crivelli with you. To give you a better overview, I have compiled my previous articles on the French niche fragrance label below:

The extraits of Maison Crivelli

Some of the brand’s creations have always played in the extrait league – such as Hibiscus Mahajád, Ambre Chromatique or Patchouli Magnetik. For a long time, however, they only made up a small part of the portfolio, which was otherwise strongly characterized by eaux de parfum. This segment was gradually expanded to include Oud MaracuJá, Cuir InfraRouge and Safran Secret.

Maison Crivelli Oud MaracuJá - Extrait de Parfum Flacon lying on a structured, gold-colored surface

I would like to start with Oud MaracuJá, because I have stumbled across this fragrance again and again in recent years. It is mentioned almost reflexively when it comes to the combination of agarwood and fruity notes. However, this combination is by no means new – dark, oudy, sometimes leathery nuances have been combined with fruity accents for a long time. Alexandria II by XerJoff, for example, combines smoky, woody notes with apple, God of Fire by Stéphane Humbert Lucas focuses on mango, and London by Widian plays with clearly perceptible raspberry facets.

Oud MaracuJá – Not a fragrance for quiet tones

Oud MaracuJá is one of Maison Crivelli’s extraits de parfum and was composed by Jordi Fernández. The focus here is on the combination of lush eagle wood with the juicy, exotic freshness of passion fruit – a combination that initially reads unusual on paper, but which unfolds surprisingly harmoniously in its implementation. This much can already be revealed.

Fragrance notes: Eaglewood (oud), passion fruit (passion fruit), leather, honey, woods, saffron, benzoin resin, labdanum (cistus), Turkish rose, patchouli, vanilla

The oud in the opening of Oud MaracuJá is powerful and expressive – animalic, leathery and smoky. However, the passion fruit can already be sensed and provides a bright, radiant glow in the otherwise rather dark and earthy agarwood opening. It is juicy and tropical, infused with that tart sweetness and characteristic note that we love so much about the fruit. It brings lightness to the composition, supported by the airy freshness of delicate roses, which, however, remain exclusively subliminal in nature and remain discreetly in the background. The leather forms an exciting counterpoint: dark and creaky, it underlines the powerful facets of the oud, while softer, softer and smoother moments gradually spread throughout the creation. A fine, sweet creaminess covers the fragrance, whereby the protagonists of oud, passion fruit and leather always remain clearly perceptible.

Oud MaracuJá by Maison Crivelli is an extrait de parfum that beautifully combines tropical-fruity, woody-smoky and leathery nuances. While the opening is very strong, expressive and animalistic, the creation becomes calmer and creamier over time without losing its presence. This composition is perfect for anyone who is looking for a real statement fragrance, is not afraid of animalistic oud and loves the combination of eagle wood and fruit. Only suitable for the office to a limited extent, but all the more suitable for the evening, a grand entrance or going out. Have you tried the fragrance yet?
