At the end of September, I was once again a guest at a fragrance event in Hamburg – this time it was all about the renowned brand Initio Parfums Privés and its newly launched creation Can’t get Enough, which I was able to test exclusively in advance. More than a hundred guests from the perfume industry in and around Hamburg were invited to enjoy not only culinary delights in the elegant premises of the GAGA Club in St. Pauli, but also to gain an in-depth insight into the fascinating world of fragrances from Initio Parfums Privés.
The fragrant world of Initio Parfums Privés
We took the elevator up to the location, which was really stunning. A fantastic roof terrace was the first highlight, where we were able to enjoy the sunset. We then went into the club itself and the evening began under the sign of Initio Parfums Privés. Quentin Dubois had arrived from the brand, who began by telling us about the fragrance house itself and its special features.
The creations of Initio Parfum Privés are – according to him – so-called functional fragrances, which should enable the wearer to feel the way they want to feel and become the person they want to be. Like an active, stimulating force that has a direct effect on body and mind. The fragrances are therefore much more than “just” perfume for the label.
What distinguishes Initio’s functional fragrances are special fragrance molecules that are said to have an activating, emotional effect on our brain. They are designed to boost self-confidence, increase well-being or evoke an extra dose of seduction. And so the brand does not simply call its lines collections, but Emotional Territories, because each line has a specific function that is linked to an emotion.
Carnal Blends – Can’t get Enough of Hedione
The stimulating fragrance molecule in the Carnal Blends Collection is Hedion, which exudes a transparent, greenish-floral jasmine scent and has a pheromone-like effect. Neuroscientific research has shown that hedione activates special receptors in the human brain that are associated with social perception and attraction. In chemical terms, hedione is methyldihydrojasmonate, a synthetic fragrance discovered by Firmenich in 1962 and first used by Edmond Roudnitska in Dior Eau Sauvage in 1966.

What does Can’t get Enough by Initio Parfums Privés smell like?
Bright, airy and radiant, Can’t Get Enough opens with light-flooded, floral notes, which are soon joined by the seductive accents of roasted sugar and spicy, sweet vanilla. The rose emphasizes the fresh lightness of the opening, but remains discreetly in the background overall. Hedione, which characterizes the composition from the outset, lends it elusive facets reminiscent of jasmine – comforting, transparent and creamy at the same time. Delicate, delicious nuances of creamy caramel and dark vanilla repeatedly appear, blending harmoniously into the olfactory structure and underlining the cozy character of Can’t Get Enough.
Can a fragrance like Can’t get Enough be suitable for everyday use?
That’s easy to answer: yes, definitely! The eau de parfum is perfect for everyday wear, the office, leisure and even for the evening. The composition is perfect for the cooler months of the year, when we feel like cozy, enveloping and soft creations – preferably with a wonderful, spicy-gourmand finish like Can’t Get Enough by Initio Parfums Privés.
