Just discovered: Tobacco Memories Extrait by Chambre52 & Chantilly Extrait by Gritti

Today we are focusing on two fragrances: Tobacco Memories Extrait by Chambre52 and Chantilly Extrait by Gritti. Two very different creations that have been waiting in my to-review box for a while to finally make an appearance on the blog. And today is the day. Let’s look forward to two exciting extrait compositions.

Chantilly Extrait by Gritti

Chantilly Extrait is the more intense version of the Gritti fragrance Chantilly, which I reviewed back in 2023. At that time, the White Collection dedicated to femininity was still in its infancy and comprised just a handful of creations. In addition to Chantilly, my article on top fragrances from Gritti’s White Collection also focused on the two eaux de parfum Rebrodè and Macramé. All three fragrances were inspired by lace – in its various forms and manifestations. Fine Chantilly lace is considered the noblest variant.

Interestingly, a dessert also bears this name: a rich cream made from whipped cream, powdered sugar and vanilla. It is quite possible that this sweet delicacy also had an influence on the creation of Chantilly Extrait.

Top notes: melon, strawberry, bergamot
Heart notes: apple, coconut, blackcurrant
Base notes: vanilla, powdery notes, musk

Chantilly Extrait from Gritti is colorful, fruity and wonderfully creamy from the very first moment. Juicy, sweet berries and melon meet a hint of tangy bergamot and the dry, milky nuances of coconut at the start – an interplay that immediately evokes summery, sunny associations. Crisp apple notes bring additional freshness into play, followed by the cassis-like depth of blackcurrant. In the finish, the composition is carried by soft, smooth musk, which combines with powdery, crystalline and gently vanilla-like facets.

Chantilly Extrait is a gentle, summery mix of delicious fruits, fine coconut and fluffy, soft notes that is reminiscent of a creamy dessert. However, I would not describe the fragrance as a classic gourmand – rather as fruity-powdery or fruity-creamy. However, Gritti’s extrait de parfum is certainly one thing: beautiful. A sunny, feel-good fragrance with a medium presence and just as long-lasting, which can be worn for almost any occasion in the warmer months of the year.

Tobacco Memories Extrait by Chambre52

Tobacco Memories Extrait is the more intense interpretation of the eau de parfum of the same name, which I have already introduced to you here. My article Chambre52 – Clear the stage for Tobacco Memories, which kicked off a small review series about the French niche fragrance brand’s line, was not only about the fragrance itself – which is one of my favorites within the Chambre52 universe alongside Soleil Tonka – but also about the history and background of the label.

Cherry, tobacco and iris already come together in the eau de parfum. In the extrait, two exciting facets are added to this trio: saffron and labdanum (cistus). A combination that evokes opulent and profound associations. And something has also changed visually: Chambre52’s flacons are real eye-catchers anyway, with that special blend of nostalgia and modernity. Now the bottle also picks up on the rich dark red of the lid – harmonious and very successful.

Fragrance notes: Saffron, Cherry, Labdanum (Cistus), Iris, Tobacco

Tobacco Memories Extrait starts off less dark and lush than one might initially expect. Instead, an atmospheric composition of dry, leathery saffron, sweet, dark red cherry and warm, golden tobacco unfolds right from the start. With its soft, powdery texture, iris provides a gentle backdrop, while labdanum contributes a fine, slightly smoky sweetness that blends harmoniously into the overall picture. Overall, the composition is surprisingly transparent and airy.

Tobacco Memories Extrait is therefore different than expected: lighter, more powdery, somewhat tart. Saffron, cherry and tobacco merge into a calm, balanced accord on a soft, almost cozy base that reveals almond-like facets in places. I would place the presence in the medium range, as would the longevity – a fragrance that remains rather restrained and gradually unfolds.
