With the two creations Carate Urio and Dreamer by Zarkoperfume, Zarko Ahlmann Pavlov dedicates himself to a very personal theme – his own family. In keeping with the brand’s typical style, the Danish perfumer focuses on a molecular aesthetic that harmonizes Nordic minimalist clarity and gentle emotion. Ahlmann Pavlov’s fragrances are quiet, poetic and delicate, soulful and expressive at the same time. Both eaux de parfum are dedicated to his children: Carate Urio to his daughter Olivia, Dreamer to his son Isak.
I have already presented creations such as Sending Love, Cloud Collection No. 4, MOLéCULE C-19 The Beach and The Muse here, all of which revolve around the transparency and clarity of molecules – each time interpreted in a different way.

Carate Urio – Fragrant Dolce Vita
Carate Urio is a small village on the western shore of Lake Como, nestled between the water and the gentle slopes of the Lombardy Prealps. When you arrive here, you immediately feel that special Mediterranean magic that is hard to put into words – a mixture of tranquillity, light and the carefree elegance of the Italian north. Narrow alleyways lead down to the lake, lined with cypresses, lemon trees and old villas whose pastel-colored facades tell their very own stories of summers past and festive evenings.
Just a few kilometers further on, in Laglio, celebrities such as George Clooney have also found their hideaway – an indication that the fascination of this area extends far beyond Italy. However, Carate Urio remains a rather quiet, well-protected gem despite its proximity to the glamorous towns on Lake Como. It was in this setting that Zarko Ahlmann Pavlov found the inspiration for Carate Urio, for which he combined the ingredients pear, apple, white flowers, iris, sandalwood, musk and cedarwood.
What does Carate Urio smell like?
Fruity, sweet and summery, Carate Urio starts off the fragrance with the molecule-like atmosphere that is so characteristic of Zarkoperfume’s creations. The eau de parfum is fluffy, soft and incredibly cozy, yet surprisingly powerful and present. The fruits remind me more of berries, of sweet strawberries coated in sugar, but I can also detect juicy pears. Iris, musk and sandalwood combine to create incredibly soft, creamy, feel-good notes that wonderfully absorb and envelop the fruity accents.
When is the best time to wear Carate Urio?
Although the name of the eau de parfum may sound a little harsh and tough at first glance, Carate Urio is a real softie. Ideal for all those who like fruity and cozy compositions based on molecules, who prefer the special radiance of the present and airy-transparent Zarko perfumes. A fragrance for the warmer seasons and almost any occasion – tending towards the feminine. It also has impressive longevity.
Dreamer – Clarity meets serenity
Dreamer is also a sunny, Mediterranean-style fragrance, this time paying homage to Zarko Ahlmann Pavlov’s son Isak. While Carate Urio for the daughter Olivia shows the fruity, soft, fun-loving side of the family, Dreamer is dedicated to a calmer facet – clear, focused and at the same time serene. The name may suggest a dreamer, but the press release describes it more aptly: “A fragrance for those who never stop dreaming – and have both feet on the ground.” The creation combines the ingredients apple, ginger, bergamot, maritime notes, fig leaves, herbs, ambroxan, tonka bean, musk, cedarwood and incense.
What does Dreamer smell like?
Tart, fresh and maritime, Dreamer begins the fragrance and reveals surprisingly classic, masculine facets. Musky, molecular nuances soon join in, giving the composition the typical Zarko perfume character. They underline the fruity, citrusy and tart marine accents of the opening and lend it additional transparency and airiness without detracting from its presence. In the finish, delicate and light woody notes with a subtle coolness of incense are added.
Who is Dreamer made for?
Dreamer seems quite linear in its structure to me – clear, very serene and calm. Naturally, we are not dealing with a highly complex, densely woven fragrance here, but rather a modern, elegant and timeless eau de parfum with a classic touch and subtle barbershop vibes. For me, the creation exudes a Mediterranean, almost meditative mood – a quiet, unagitated all-rounder for every day and every occasion.
