Mangomina D and Felina from New Notes – Modern Liquid Collection

With Mangomina D and Felina, the Italian niche fragrance label New Notes is not only launching two new fragrances, but also a new line: the Modern Liquid Collection. This opens up a whole new chapter within its own fragrance philosophy – stylistically focused, aesthetically condensed and surprisingly wearable at the same time. Unlike the more playful Contemporary Blend Collection, which experiments with unusual fragrance combinations and thematic diversity, the new line concentrates on characterful signatures that combine familiar echoes with unexpected nuances.

The Modern Liquid Collection also marks a clear visual change of direction for New Notes: The 60 ml bottles appear in a new, round shape and focus on memorable color and design codes. Mangomina D scores with transparent glass in bright orange, which has a lively, radiant and sunny effect. Felina, on the other hand, dresses in animal print – sensual, self-confident and with a wink. This not only underlines the line’s avant-garde character, but is also visibly aimed at an audience with a keen eye for aesthetics, a sense of quality and a desire for the extraordinary.

Mangomina D – Vitamin sunshine

With Mangomina D, New Notes once again devotes itself to the popular theme of fruit fragrances. The mango is the protagonist of this extrait de parfum, as the name suggests. There have been a few new launches recently around the kidney-shaped tropical fruit with the sweet-tart taste. I remember Cerana by Nectar Olfactif, Black Mango by BORNTOSTANDOUT, Mango Aoud by Gritti or Magnetic Mango by Olfattology. Can you think of any others? What was cherry a few years ago is now mango, pineapple and banana. Personally, I found the “it” fruit cherry relatively catchy. There were and are many beautiful creations with the red stone fruit, including Latte di Cherryfrom New Notes.

The new generation of fruit fragrances, often based in the tropical segment, tends to be more extravagant, more lively, cheekier and more unconventional. I am almost certain that this assessment of mine is also reflected in the Mangomina D extrait de parfum, which combines the ingredients mango, mandarin, yuzu, maritime notes, saffron, rose, patchouli, sandalwood, cashmere wood, nagarmotha, moss, ambergris and musk.

New Notes - Mangomina D

Mangomina D starts lusciously with juicy-sweet mango, which is accompanied by subtle citrus fruits. You really get your fill of mango here – slightly over-the-top, tropical-fruity and somewhat shrill, matching the bright color of the bottle. Restraint is not the thing of this mango, even if the maritime breeze that gradually flows into the fragrance brings airiness, transparency and ozonic accents to the creation. The citrus fruits also ensure that the extrait de parfum by New Notes is not too heavy or overpowering. As the fragrance progresses, darker nuances are added, giving the scent depth. I only notice the saffron subtly, while the earthy, woody facets of patchouli and nagarmotha are more prominent. These lend exciting facets to the salty, fruity and sunny mix of marine nuances and lush mango, before the fragrance finally fades out with woody, warm and crystalline-powdery notes.

Those who love present, bright and lush fruit fragrances, especially with mango, will love Mangomina D. An expressive and powerful extrait de parfum with good presence and longevity that can unfold its full effect, especially in warm seasons. The fragrance has an almost invigorating energy, conveying a feeling of light, joie de vivre and a carefree summer mood. And all this without slipping into shallow sweetness or bold tropical clichés. Mangomina D is a statement fragrance for anyone who has the courage to wear mango.

Felina – the pedigree kitten of Modern Liquids

With Felina, the Modern Liquid Collection shows its darker, more seductive side. This extrait de parfum combines the gourmand theme with animalistic elegance, a combination that appears both soft and wild. As rich in contrast as Animal Print, the fragrance also reveals itself olfactorily – thanks to the notes of coconut, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, coffee, caramel, chocolate, juniper, incense, tonka bean, tobacco, powdery notes, woods, sandalwood, amber and musk. Does Felina show us her claws or does the creation purr like a cuddly kitten?

New Notes - Felina

Milky, creamy coconut meets roasted coffee and the spicy, gourmand notes of vanilla, fine cinnamon and dark chocolate in the opening of Felina, resulting in an incredibly exciting blend. The incense brings subtly smoky, cool nuances to the composition, accompanied by light, clean woods, the finest tonka bean and a creamy caramel sweetness. The creation is very powdery, creamy and soft – spicy, sweet and incredibly cuddly. The balsamic-soft notes of sandalwood and ambergris add a touch of warmth to the fragrance, accompanied by fluffy musk and sweet vanilla.

Felina is a gourmand-spicy and powdery-lovely extrait de parfum with coffee, fine spices and creamy nuances that almost evoke the association of a “flavored-coffee” treat in me. Perfect for anyone who loves tangy coffee notes with a sweet, creamy and powdery finish. In my eyes, this is more of a creation for the cooler season, for fall and winter. Here, however, I would wear Felina on any occasion, because the pedigree kitten of the Modern Liquid Collection is simply too delicious to resist.
