With Crème Brûlante, I am concluding my small but fine series of articles on the French niche fragrance brand Fascent. Even though a new fragrance is already in the starting blocks – Red Flag – I have not yet received a sample from the head office. That’s why I’m only going to focus on one fragrance for now; I’ll present the new arrival Red Flag to you later. Especially as Créme Brûlante – after two posts with summery creations – is another fragrance that is perfect for the cold season. So grab your vial and let’s go!

I would also like to remind you of the following three articles that I recently published on this blog. In these you can read about the Fascent brand and also find my fragrance reviews of the eaux de parfum Milky No Way, Radical Softness, Sel à Vie, I Fig You and L’Eau d’Or Dort:

Crème Brûlante – Hot dessert
With the name Crème Brûlante, Fascent is of course alluding to the popular French dessert crème brulée, which is traditionally served with a caramelized sugar crust. Crème Brûlante can be loosely translated as “glowing cream” or “hot cream” and this clearly indicates the direction in which this creation will take us: It’s going to be gourmand. The fragrance genre has already brought us some olfactory delicacies in recent years and months, many of which I have already presented to you here. You can find more gourmand fragrances via this link. Back to Crème Brûlante. Perfumer Alexandre Freile was once again responsible for the creative realization of the fragrance, combining the ingredients vanilla, bourbon vanilla, gourmand notes, almond, incense, benzoin resin, rum and ambergris.

Testing Crème Brûlante by Fascent
Delicious vanilla combines with notes of roasted sugar, roasted almonds and a subtle smoky sweetness to create a creation that is beguiling, seductive and wonderfully gourmand. The incense lends lightness and transparency to the creation with its cool, floating smoky accents, while the rum provides liqueur-like aspects that blend beautifully into the olfactory ensemble. I perceive soft, doughy nuances in the background that remind me of cookie dough. Finally, warm amber rounds off the composition.
Crème Brûlante is not a dense, heavy sugar bomb, but an airy, rather light gourmand that envelops the skin in a delicious veil. Creamy, spicy and irresistibly delicious, Fascent’s eau de parfum is perfect for anyone who prefers comforting creations with a dessert character but doesn’t want to fill the whole room with it. Sweetness is definitely present, but it is balanced and not sticky. I can definitely imagine this gourmand as a business fragrance – it is suitable for everyday life and leisure anyway. Not just for those with a sweet tooth: definitely try it!
