Today we are once again entering the world of Masakï Matsushïma and his creations. The Japanese designer with a penchant for typographical peculiarities and unexpected punctuation marks in his fragrance names launched an eau de parfum a few months ago – it was actually still quite wintry – that almost cried out for spring: NIJI mat; is not only dressed in a cheerful, refreshing pastel green, but also entices with fragrance notes such as pear, melon and cherry. Just right for a day like today, when the thermometer is set to climb to a crisp 25 °C (for northern Germany).
Masakï Matsushïma in the fragrance diary
Of course, Masakï Matsushïma has often been featured here on the blog. And it is noticeable that I have mainly presented fragrances from the brand that were summery and spring-like. I am staying true to this line with today’s review. For anyone who would like to read up a little on the other creations, I have provided links to my latest articles below:
- Matsu Sunshïne by Masakï Matsushïma and ERL Sunscreen by Comme des Garçons – summer in abundance
- Fox in the Flowerbed by Imaginary Authors and J-mat; by Masakï Matsushïma – A flower called jasmine
- HaNa by Masakï Matsushïma – A bit of spring in the fall
- Matsu Kï by Masakï Matsushïma – energy that flows through everything
NIJI mat; by Masakï Matsushïma
Perfumer Leonardo Lucheze had a very specific vision in mind when working on the NIJI mat fragrance: “I wanted to capture the harmony of the colors of the rainbow in my creation.” And so the eau de parfum contains a colorful selection of shades. Cherries stand for red, mandarin for orange, melon for pink, pear for green, maritime notes for blue, lily of the valley and jasmine for white and ylang-ylang for yellow. The whole thing is rounded off with spices and fluffy, powdery nuances. Sounds good, doesn’t it?
Top notes: cherry, mandarin, melon, pear
Heart notes: maritime notes, lily of the valley, ylang-ylang, rose, jasmine
Base notes: cashmeran, ambroxan, tonka bean, vanilla, musk
The opening of NIJI mat; from Masakï Matsushïma is citrusy, fruity and fresh. The individual fruits are densely interwoven, making it difficult to distinguish individual notes. They are soon supported by a molecular-maritime freshness that lends the creation additional lightness and transparency. The flowers also underline this with airy, light and aquatic nuances before the fragrance settles down to rest on a pleasantly soft and gentle base of musky notes.
NIJI mat; is a bright, fruity, light and cheerful blend of fruits, flowers and soft musk that fits in wonderfully with the current season. With a medium presence and just as long-lasting, the eau de parfum is a pleasant and uncomplicated fragrance companion for every occasion. Whether in everyday life or in the office, for sports or a warm summer evening on the terrace, with NIJI mat; you are always well scented. Perfect for anyone looking for a catchy and fruity-soft all-rounder for spring and summer.
