In this part about the French niche fragrance label Chambre52, we will focus on the eaux de parfum Orencie and Cuir à Corps. In my previous posts Chambre52 – Clear the stage for Tobacco Memories and Soleil Tonka and Contre ta Peau by Chambre52 – Tonka Bean & Orange Blossom, I already presented three creations from the label founded in 2024 by Nicolas Dewitte, who drew inspiration for the brand from his travels, memories, and emotions.
Orencie – When rose meets musk
Orencie – like Contre ta Peau – was created by perfumer Caroline Dumur, who has the following to say about the eau de parfum: “I created this fragrance with the idea of a clean, refined, smiling soap bubble. The musky notes envelop us and remind us of fresh linen that we like to wrap ourselves in. This fragrance also gave me the opportunity to work on a particularly modern musky rose.
The ingredients in this composition are angelica (angelica), lychee, geranium, rose, ambergris, musk, sandalwood, Virginia cedarwood and milk. The brand leaves the exact meaning of the name Orencie open – perhaps deliberately. To me, it sounds summery, light, soulful, melodic – as soft and bright as a modern musky rose.
Gentle, airy and fresh, Orencie starts with greenish-peppery angelica, cool geranium and the sweet-tart fruit accords of lychee, which meet wonderfully light and radiant rose nuances. Delicate musk powder provides additional transparency and also lends cozy, comforting notes that offer a wonderful base with clean cedarwood and the purity of milk. The sandalwood brings a fine, woody warmth to the composition, rounding off the eau de parfum harmoniously and atmospherically.
Orencie is a bright, minimalist and spring-like summery fragrance that combines the delicate nuances of rose, lychee and greenish notes with milky-clean facets. With a light to medium presence and just as long-lasting, the eau de parfum is an ideal companion for any occasion. Although it is advertised as a unisex creation, I find the fragrance tends to have a feminine touch. Perfect for anyone who likes soft and restrained, light and transparent compositions with rose, lychee and musk. Simply beautiful!
Cuir à Corps – Vanilla and suede
“I created this fragrance from bourbon vanilla beans, which have a particularly warm, leathery and sensual scent. To emphasize this sensuality, I have enhanced the smoky leather accord with a suede note and animal musk notes,” writes perfumer Domitille Michalon Bertier, which sounds quite enticing to my ears.
The eau de parfum combines the ingredients mandarin, pink pepper, cinnamon, orange blossom, vanilla, patchouli, leather, animal notes and benzoin resin, resulting in a fragrance that is reminiscent of leather close to the skin.
The opening of Cuir à Corps is characterized by tart mandarin freshness and the dry spiciness of pink pepper, which are soon joined by the dark, earthy-spicy nuances of vanilla and patchouli. Cinnamon underlines the freshness and spiciness with aromatic facets before the leather slowly spreads through the composition: dark and at the same time surprisingly light, airy and transparent. Subtle animal notes underline the leathery, skunky and seductive hints of the creation and lend it a mysterious, subtly lascivious aura. Cuir à Corps ends with warm, woody-leathery and animalistic-powdery notes.
The eau de parfum by Chambre52 is a rather tart, warm, skinnily leathery fragrance with a spicy, earthy finish that has a medium presence and good longevity. Comfortable, soft and yet so wonderfully transparent, Cuir à Corps is an elegant, modern and pleasant fragrance that you would like to wear all the time in the cooler months of the year – and you should. Perfect for anyone who prefers dark, fine and balanced leather fragrances.
