Chambre52 – Clear the stage for Tobacco Memories

The brand Chambre52, which is one of the most exciting new discoveries of the year for me, is very new to our range at Aus Liebe zum Duft. The brand has a young and minimalist feel, but at the same time has a classic touch with a modern vintage vibe. Behind it is Nicolas Dewitte, someone who worked in the perfume industry for a long time and only decided late in life to turn his own visions and impressions into fragrances. The impulse for this came during a trip to São Paulo, in an inconspicuous hotel room with the number 52 – a place that gave him a moment of peace and the opportunity to sort out his ideas, where he made the decision to launch his own brand.

“Chambre52 refers to a specific hotel room in a remarkable hotel in São Paulo. I spent a few weeks there and it became a place of self-reflection, inspiration and connection. The brand was born out of a desire to tell stories – moments from my life that were shaped by encounters with new people and cultures. Chambre52 is more than just a perfume brand, it’s a universe – a space where people can meet, connect and share meaningful experiences.” – Nicolas Dewitte

The label, which was founded in fall 2024, has launched six fragrances to date: Tobacco Memories, Contre ta Peau, Cuir à Corps, Bois Flotté, Soleil Tonka and Orencie, as well as the two travel sets Miami and Paris and a discovery set. We will be working our way through fragrance by fragrance and getting to know all of Chambre52’s creations today and over the next few days.

The flacons, which I find beautiful and which appear both modern and nostalgic in my eyes, bear the signature of Pierre Dinand and his grandson Jules, who developed the design together. The result is a glass flacon whose clean lines look contemporary, but the vertically set facets, heavy base and warm refraction of light are reminiscent of classic perfume craftsmanship. The cylindrical cap in rich red adds a striking visual accent. Together with the minimalist, lightly textured labeling, it creates an aesthetic that is wonderfully sophisticated and elegant.

Tobacco Memories – The first chapter of Chambre52

Saffron, juniper, cherry, tobacco, iris, incense, oakmoss and vanilla are the ingredients in Tobacco Memoris by Chambre52. It is not known exactly which tobacco memories form the basis of the fragrance. Perfumer Domitille Michalon Bertier says that “there is a hint of tobacco in the air, just a light veil of smoke, and it is a pleasantly balmy evening on the roof of the hotel.” Possibly the very hotel in São Paulo where the eponymous room with the number 52 is located?

What does Tobacco Memories by Chambre52 smell like?

My first thought: Oh, wow! Tobacco Memories opens with beautiful, powdery-dry notes, characterized by the finest iris, juicy cherry and the sparkling, woody facets of juniper – balanced, elegant and modern. Saffron provides a subtle, darkly spicy depth, while tobacco adds aromatic accents and incense brings cool clouds of smoke into the fragrance. Oak moss and vanilla round off the composition with creamy, soft and spicy nuances.

What time of year and occasions is Tobacco Memories suitable for?

Tobacco Memories is a great start to the collection of the still young French niche fragrance brand Chambre52. It’s a creation that I really like – and I’m probably not the only one. The fragrance won the Fragrance Foundation France Award 2025 in the “Best Niche Fragrance from a Young Independent Brand” category. Soft, powdery, woody and carried by the finest tobacco and the most delicious cherry – Tobacco Memories is a wonderful unisex fragrance for the cooler season, with excellent longevity and a medium to strong presence. Simply delightful and now high up on my must-have list. On yours too?
