Swedish fragrance house Pana Dora Sweden is once again treating us to a new example of its iconic deer head bottles: Skadi is the name of the latest eau de parfum from the brand, which was founded in 2019 by Syrian-Swedish perfumer Ibrahim Al Zouabi. Pana Dora Sweden stands for fragrances inspired by Sweden, its nature and history, arts and crafts and Scandinavian mythology – clear, rich in contrast, poetic and sometimes rough like the wind over the Nordic coasts.
In the following, I would like to give you an overview of my previous posts about Pana Dora Sweden. There are very few brands that have been with me here on the blog for as long and as continuously as this label. With a few exceptions, I have presented almost all of their fragrances here and tried to give you an impression of the label’s special signature:
- The Pana Dora Sweden collection – Sweden’s fragrance world
- Kropp & Själ and Aqua de Dora from Pana Dora Sweden – With body and soul
- Grand Musk, Imperial Wood and Swedish Wood from Pana Dora Sweden – Highly concentrated Swedish power
- Dorasima by Pana Dora Sweden and Aswan by Widian – Orient meets Occident
- Stricker – The gentle Oriental from Pana Dora Sweden
Skadi from Pana Dora Sweden – Between ice and fire
With Skadi, Pana Dora Sweden takes up a theme from Norse mythology. There are many female figures in the world of the Norse gods, but Skadi occupies a special position here. She is the goddess of hunting and winter. Her story is characterized by self-determination: As the daughter of the slain giant Thjazi, she demands reparation from the gods – and chooses her own fate. She retreats to the wintry mountains, hunts with bow and arrow, free from expectations, free from obligations.
Pana Dora captures this spirit of Skadi in a masterful way: The eau de parfum smells of freedom and cold, of fresh air, clear earth and the blazing embers of a distant fire. Perfumer Ibrahim Al Zouabi combines the ingredients pear, apple, lemon, hazelnut, frankincense, osmanthus, saffron, rose, ambrette, moss, labdanum (cistus), vanilla, ambergris and musk for the fragrance.

What does Skadi smell like?
The opening presents itself with fresh, clear and cool notes that reflect the theme of the creation in a wonderful way. Citrusy-fruity nuances meet a subtle and smoky incense coolness and powdery ambrette. Creamy, mossy accents underline the fresh, crystalline facets of the composition, while light, smooth undertones gradually spread throughout the eau de parfum. The fragrance finally ends with soft, comforting and metallic-clean musky notes.
Who is Skadi suitable for?
Skadi is not an olfactory Valkyrie, not an opulent power fragrance, but a restrained, clean and molecular-powdery mix of citrusy-fruity, smoky-cool and creamy-crystalline notes that carries the silence and tranquillity of a winter’s day in the Swedish forests.
Minimalist, elegant and timeless, Skadi is a modern unisex fragrance for those who like it restrained and reduced. Those who prefer the silence of a wintry forest to the hustle and bustle of the city and prefer cool, subtle, clear and powdery compositions. A year-round, uncomplicated and catchy all-rounder with a medium presence and longevity.
