Yesterday there was a gentle breeze in the fragrance diary, today it’s getting stormy with Vento Forte and Vento Impetuoso from the Atmosphere d’Emotion Collection by Filippo Sorcinelli. The line is not only dedicated to the natural phenomenon of wind, but also to Sorcinelli’s spirituality, his faith and his close connection to the Bible.

Vento Forte by Filippo Sorcinelli – The strong wind
Within the Atmosphere d’Emotion Collection, Vento Forte represents the more powerful side of the wind. The name means “strong wind” and refers to one of the most famous scenes in the Old Testament. The fragrance is based on a verse from the Book of Exodus: “Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD drove back the sea all night by a strong east wind and made it dry. And the waters parted.” (Exodus 14:21 – Luther Bible 2017)
In this passage, the wind becomes an instrument of divine power. It drives back the sea and thus creates a path through the water. This means that the wind here is not just a gentle movement of air, but a powerful force of nature.
Top notes: suede, aquatic notes, oakmoss
Heart notes: earth, green notes
Base notes: ozonic notes
In Vento Forte, damp, dark earth meets ozonic-greenish nuances and creaky leather, which I do not necessarily associate with suede, but with coarse, deep black smooth leather. Filippo Sorcinelli’s perfume is present from the very first moment. Powerful, expressive and of an intensity that should not be despised, Vento Forte proves in an impressive way how a force of nature can be translated olfactorily.
Vento Forte is therefore not a quiet fragrance, but a creation with oomph. Earthy, ozonic and leathery facets combine to create a melange reminiscent of gathering storm fronts, wet earth and turbulent air. The composition is raw, atmospheric and a little untamed. Anyone who appreciates unusual, nature-inspired fragrances with a striking aura and hints of petrichor will be delighted with Vento Forte.
Vento Impetuoso by Filippo Sorcinelli – The storm
Even more dramatic – and considering the olfactory character of Vento Forte, I can hardly imagine it – is the wind in Vento Impetuoso. In particular, a violent storm rages here and the reference to the Book of Job underlines this: “Then the LORD answered Job out of the storm and said” (Job 38:1 – Luther Bible 2017)
The storm forms the setting for one of the central scenes in the Book of Job. Out of the storm, God responds to Job’s complaints and speaks about the order of the world and the limits of human knowledge.
Top notes: vetiver, guaiac wood, nagarmotha
Heart notes: birch, mineral notes, cashmeran
Base notes: styrax resin, aquatic notes, ozonic notes
Vento Impetuoso is dark, smoky and earthy and reminds me of smouldering wood, ash, wet earth and damp stones. The opening of this creation is extraordinary – rough, raw and edgy. Excitingly, in the midst of this olfactory thunderstorm, I perceive a subtle sweetness – very dense, almost vanilla-like and balsamic. Several candidates could be responsible for this: The guaiac wood, for example, to which I would also attribute this fine powderiness that I can gradually sniff out. Styrax resin is also a possible suspect, as is cashmeran. It is probably a mixture of all three that creates these sweet spots within the composition. Incidentally, the thunderstorm continues as the fragrance progresses. As dark and powerful as Vento Impetuoso starts, the perfume ends with an airy, ozonic and delicately smoky finish.
Vento Impetuoso is therefore certainly not a pleasant fragrance, but a creation with rough edges. Smoky, earthy and mineral facets characterize the picture, as does this surprisingly balsamic sweetness, which repeatedly flashes up between the darker notes. This makes the perfume feel like an olfactory snapshot of an approaching storm: restless, powerful and characterized by a certain wildness. An unusual and thoroughly idiosyncratic interpretation of the wind theme within the Atmosphere d’Emotion Collection.
