Kolada by Kajal Perfumes – The scent of Piña Colada

Kolada by Kajal Perfumes immediately conjures up vacation images in the mind, as the extrait de parfum is like a fragrant postcard from a faraway land. Inspired by the legendary Piña Colada, Kajal Perfumes translates the feeling of tropical serenity into a fine, exotic composition that is more than just a creamy blend of coconut and pineapple. It’s about an attitude to life: the warmth of the sun on your skin, the gentle sound of the waves, the play of light and shade under swaying palm trees. Dreamy afternoons on white sandy beaches.

Kolada carries the spirit of light-heartedness – an olfactory reminder to pause and enjoy the small, often overlooked moments. Kajal not only captures the essence of an exotic drink, but the idea of a faraway place where worries fade and time is irrelevant. Those who apply this fragrance take a piece of this lightness with them into the day – regardless of whether their gaze falls on the open sea or the familiar hustle and bustle outside their window at home. Kolada is summer, serenity and tropical joy in fragrance form.

Inspiration Piña Colada

The piña colada is the epitome of tropical cocktail culture – creamy, fruity and with unmistakable vacation vibes. It originated in Puerto Rico, where it was first served in the 1950s. The name literally means “sieved pineapple” and refers to the most important ingredient: freshly squeezed pineapple juice. Traditionally, this is combined with white rum and creamy coconut milk or coconut cream, often with a hint of lime for freshness.

Served over ice, the result is a velvety, creamy, exotic drink that is a symbol of relaxation and Caribbean lifestyle worldwide. By the way: in 1978, the piña colada was even declared the national drink of Puerto Rico. Whether on the beach under palm trees or in a summer bar in the city, the piña colada stands for sun, exotic indulgence and the taste of the Caribbean.

Kolada – when the pineapple and coconut …

The renowned Spanish master perfumer Toni Cabal was responsible for the olfactory realization of the Piña Colada. As the son of a perfumer, he was almost born into his professional career. He initially studied chemical engineering, where he also graduated. In his mid-twenties, he got his first job as a perfumer in Asia and has now been at home in the world of fragrances for over thirty years – with great success.

For Kolada, Kajal Perfumes’ summer sun and tropical delight, he combined bergamot, fruity notes, pineapple, violet, lily of the valley, coconut, benzoin resin and ambergris. The pineapple(Ananas comosus) belongs to the bromeliad family and originally comes from the tropical regions of South America. The perennial plant forms a dense rosette of leaves, from the middle of which the characteristic fruit develops. It was brought to Europe by sailors in the 15th century and quickly became a valuable luxury item that was only served on special occasions.

In the 16th century, Portuguese and Spanish sailors brought the coconut(Cocos nucifera) from South East Asia and the Pacific region to Europe. The fruit of the coconut palm, which belongs to the palm family, was originally native to the coastal regions of Southeast Asia. Today it grows in almost all tropical regions of the world. Its fibrous husk protects the aromatic flesh and the nutrient-rich coconut water inside.

A delicate freshness pervades the opening of Kolada – citrusy, fruity and transparent – but the pineapple soon reveals itself in the creation. With its typical and very authentic sweet and sour notes, it creates an instant tropical flair. The extrait de parfum is soft and delicate, slowly revealing the milky and subtle nuances of coconut, which combine with the pineapple to create a delicious, exotic blend. Subtle violet powder and the aquatic, airy facets of lily of the valley lend the creation additional lightness and transparency, while benzoin resin and ambergris bring sweet, warm and creamy-smooth accents to the composition.

Kolada by Kajal Perfumes is a wonderfully summery and sunny tropical fragrance that interprets the seductive notes of a piña colada in a wonderful olfactory way. I particularly like the fact that the rather sumptuous cocktail that served as a source of inspiration has been made so light and airy. Not a heavy, sticky-sweet pineapple-coconut combination, but a finely balanced, very harmoniously conceived and coherent blend of creamy-crystalline and fruity-exotic notes that brings a smile to the face and fits perfectly into the current warm season. Not just a must-try for piña colada fans, but also for anyone who prefers that olfactory tropical feeling. Simply great!
