The fragrance house L’Artisan Parfumeur has a special place in my heart, as the brand has accompanied me since the beginning of my passion for niche fragrances and enchants me again and again with every new creation. From the travel fragrances of Bertrand Duchaufour to the wonderful Les Paysage collection, from the La Botanique line to the many, many classics such as Passage d’Enfer, Mûre et Musc or Fou d’Absinthe – the label’s portfolio is as extensive as it is beautiful. Even if there has been a lot of change in terms of fragrances in recent years – new creations have been added, others have been discontinued – L’Artisan Parfumeur has always retained its artistic core: a poetic, often nature-loving approach that does not shy away from rough edges and shows the great aesthetics of French perfumery in all its diversity.
Fragrances such as Un Air de Bretagne or Soleil de Provence from the Les Paysages collection transport us to the diverse landscapes of France, while La Chasse aux Papillons Extrême and Passage d’Enfer Extrême enchant us with their atmospheric scenes. This attention to detail – be it in terms of the raw materials, the balance of the compositions or the narrative concept – is what makes the brand so unique for me.
L’Artisan Parfumeur is now more modern, the packaging has been revised and the range is also more streamlined than before. Some old classics have disappeared, while new lines such as La Botanique, Les Merveilles and Les Paysages have been added, further developing the house’s signature. But despite all these changes, you can still feel what fascinated me from the very beginning: Creations that touch, carry you away and tell their very own story. That’s why I’m all the more looking forward to regularly introducing you to new perfumes here and immersing myself in the world of L’Artisan Parfumeur together with you.
Histoire d’Orangers Extrême by Marie Salamagne
For me, perfumer Marie Salamagne is one of the most exciting creative voices in modern perfumery. Born in Paris in 1977, she became fascinated by scents at an early age and was inspired by everyday things. After a brief detour to study medicine, she decided to study chemistry and eventually graduated from the ISIPCA in Versailles. Since 2001, she has been part of the renowned fragrance manufacturer Firmenich, where she has been able to really develop her own style.
Salamagne describes her creative process almost like painting a canvas: she thinks in terms of colors, contrasts and moods and translates these into fragrance notes. She works in a very structured way, with sketches and notebooks for individual ideas and accords. For L’Artisan Parfumeur, she not only created the original Histoire d’Orangers in 2017, but also the new, more opulent version Histoire d’Orangers Extrême.
While the original captures a bright, creamy orange blossom – light, Mediterranean, sun-drenched – the Extrême version is intended to be “more intense, more contrasting, more penetrating” without losing its relaxed elegance. While the original was limited to the ingredients neroli, orange blossom and musk, Marie Salamagne combines the fragrance notes musk,
neroli , orange blossom, pink pepper, incense and cedarwood in Histoires d’Orangers Extrême.
Histoire d’Orangers Extrême – sparkling pink pepper meets soft Moroccan orange blossom, carried by the warm depth of precious cedarwood. Marie Salamagne has recreated an icon: a fragrance like the echo of endless summer days. It all began under a radiant golden sky … On a day full of light and warmth, Histoire d’Orangers Extrême unleashes the power of a luminous sun-ripened fruit – and transforms it into a deeper, more intense essence.
Tart yet sweet, Histoire d’Orangers Extrême by L’Artisan Parfumeur begins the fragrance with the greenish, aromatic fruity nuances of neroli, which are wonderfully complemented by creamy orange blossom. The eau de parfum is airy, transparent and yet present, summery-fresh and yet sweetly floral. Pepper and incense provide a subtle, dry coolness and set fine accents that lend the flowers tension and depth. Meanwhile, musk and cedarwood conjure up crystalline, clean facets in the composition that emphasize the summery notes, lightness and airiness of Histoire d’Orangers Extrême.
The latest eau de parfum from L’Artisan Parfumeur is a magical, delightful blend of the creamy, floral orange nuances of neroli and orange blossom that is sunny, Mediterranean and incredibly relaxing. It is reminiscent of warm afternoons in the south of France, of walks through blooming gardens full of light and warmth. The composition is wonderfully balanced and modern, not overloaded, but clearly structured. Suitable for everyday wear and the office, elegant and light in summer and a perfect fragrance companion for the warmer months of the year. The creation lays on the skin like a fine, radiant veil, leaving behind an airy freshness and remaining present in a transparent way. Histoire d’Orangers Extrême is ideal for anyone looking for a sunny, sophisticated orange blossom fragrance that is soft and creamy, with a finish of cool incense, soft musk and clean cedarwood. If you are looking for summer on your skin, this composition by L’Artisan Parfumeur is just the thing.
