Beurre de Santal and Oud Figue by Sensatio Paris – fragrances with culinary inspiration

The two new fragrance treasures Beurre de Santal and Oud Figue from Sensatio Paris have been at the top of my to-try list for a long time – now the time has finally come. I’ve also published an unboxing on our Instagram account in which I unpack one of the two creations. After all, the experience of a perfume doesn’t just begin on the skin, but when you first look at it and unpack it: when you look at the details and the value of the packaging and bottle.

Sensatio Paris attaches great importance to design. The bottle comes in a sturdy, dark blue cardboard outer packaging with a silky matt surface. An integrated magnetic closure keeps the box securely closed. It can be opened like a menu card: On the left are a few words of inspiration, on the right the fragrance notes and the name of the perfumer.

The packaging has a direct link to the gastronomic background of one of the two founders: Sacha Perrin has been at home in haute cuisine for many years. Together with his brother David Perrin, who we also know from the Nectar Olfactif brand, he founded Sensatio Paris a few years ago. A label that “transforms epicurean delicacies from selected perfumers into exquisite fragrance compositions using the highest quality raw materials”.

Beurre de Santal – Olfactory delicacy

Perfumer Clément Marx was responsible for the creative work on Beurre de Santal, creating a fragrance that is closely inspired by French cuisine and Sacha Perrin’s dishes. A butter refined with the finest vanilla, exquisite Nepalese sandalwood and a few other ingredients make the extrait de parfum “a deliciously sensual, seductive and addictive fragrance … a scent that you want to taste as much as you want to smell.”

Top notes: bourbon vanilla, milk, ambrette
Heart notes: sandalwood, cocoa, pear, cyclamen
Base notes: musk, ambroxan, sugar

Beurre de Santal by Sensatio Paris opens with creamy vanilla that meets powdery, milky facets. Cyclamen brings airy, floral, subtly aquatic nuances to the creation, providing lightness and transparency, while cocoa sets exciting accents with dark, tart chocolate powder notes. A fruity pear sweetness is subtly perceptible and blends harmoniously into the blend. As if all this were not already beautiful enough, the sandalwood bathes the fragrance in a seductive warmth that is enveloping and cozy. The velvety woody nuances give the creation depth and volume, rounded off by a sugary base of crystalline musk and soft ambroxan.

The extrait de parfum by Sensatio Paris is indeed a must-have for all fans of gourmand-spicy and fruity-lovely compositions with vanilla, sandalwood and an airy, light, powdery base. Very balanced and harmoniously composed, Beurre de Santal is ideal for all those who love modern, transparent and seductive fragrances with a gourmand-oriental twist. More of a niche fragrance for cooler days that can be worn for any occasion. Another masterpiece from Sensatio Paris that is sure to find many friends. An all-round successful composition.

Oud Figue – Fig meets eaglewood

Oud Figue is completely different from the first fragrance – as you can tell from the name. The two protagonists are clearly recognizable: eaglewood and fig come together here, along with mate and leather, which make the composition all the more exciting. The question of how these ingredients harmonize with each other and are combined by perfumer Elise Pierre is all the more exciting. For the extrait de parfum, Sensatio Paris used Cambodian and Thai oud al safi, a particularly pure and high-quality form of eaglewood.

Top notes: bergamot, cardamom, rose
Heart notes: fig, mate, leather
Base notes: eaglewood (oud), incense, vetiver

Dark and powerful, Oud Figue starts the fragrance. Oud and leather make an early appearance and combine with the tart tea notes of mate, airy rose and fresh bergamot to create an exciting opening. But the creation soon calms down. Fig enters the olfactory stage and provides greenish-fruity and creamy nuances that breathe gentle, almost meditative moments into the extrait de parfum. The blend of fig, oud, mate and leather creates an exciting balance of freshness, depth and gentle warmth. Cool incense and subtly earthy vetiver herald the transition to the base.

Oud Figue by Sensatio Paris is a multi-faceted fragrance that combines dark oud and leather notes with green fig, mate and cool, slightly smoky accents. The composition changes from an intense, powerful opening to a softer, airier melange with creamy, fruity nuances. Despite its depth, the fragrance is always balanced and modern. For me, it is particularly beautiful to wear in the transitional period and on cooler days.
