The traditional French candle manufacturer Trudon has also been in the perfume business for some time and has spoiled us with many an olfactory treasure to spray on in recent years. Now the brand is launching a new collection called Nuit Rouge, which is entirely dedicated to opulence – exquisite raw materials and complex, opulent compositions. The three creations in the new line are dedicated to the night and explore the seductive side of darkness, when everything appears more intense, mysterious and sensual. Mystique, 45° and Midnight Omen form the heart of the new Nuit Rouge Collection – three highly concentrated creations with a perfume oil content of 20%.
Mystique – The spiritual side of the night
Let’s start with the fragrance Mystique. The name of the creation hints at that special aura that lies between spirituality and mystery. Something that cannot be explained, but only sensed and felt. The eau de parfum in the Trudon Nuit Rouge Collection takes up this idea in olfactory form. Perfumer Emilie Bouge uses the ingredients leather, saffron, cedarwood, eaglewood (oud), sandalwood, papyrus, ambergris, patchouli and ebony to create an intense, smoky and ritualistic composition that can be understood as an invitation to embrace the unknown.
Mystique embodies spiritual intensity and mystical allure. This fragrance transports us to a secret world full of rituals and magic, where smoke and leather have an almost incantatory effect.
From the outset, Mystique presents itself as a dark, woody-smoky creation with strong saffron, oud and deep woods. The leather is black, creaky and has a matt sheen. It combines with the spices and woods in an atmospheric way. Mystique really does have a mysterious, spiritual and mystical effect on me. An eau de parfum in which a gentle, balsamic sweetness spreads as the fragrance progresses, gently softening the smoky, harsher facets of the opening and guiding them into calmer channels. It is a fragrance that I would not wear in everyday life or in the office, but rather on special occasions, for going out or in the evening. Unisex – for me, however, it tends to be more masculine, but that is purely a matter of taste. A special eau de parfum that impresses with its balanced presence and excellent longevity. Perfect for fall and winter.
45° – Playing with fire
45°, a fragrance created by perfumer Yann Vasnier, revolves around the beguiling notes of vanilla. The eau de parfum tells of the heat of the night, of moments when the temperature rises and with it the passion, the desire, the fire. 45° is like an “intoxicating fever”, a sensual homage to vanilla in all its facets. Three different varieties are said to have been incorporated into the composition of 45° from the Trudon Nuit Rouge Collection. The ingredients listed are honey, bergamot, bourbon vanilla, woods, benzoin resin and vanilla, which the perfumer brings together to create this special and well-tempered blend.
It offers a daring reinterpretation of vanilla that unfolds in a subtle and playful way, adding an unexpected twist to the lushness of a light, already delicious vanilla.
Tart bergamot meets liqueur-like, golden honey and the gentle spicy facets of vanilla in the opening of 45°. The eau de parfum initially has a sweet yet fresh, gourmand, airy and light effect, before a seductive sweetness spreads throughout the fragrance as it progresses. Honey and vanilla are joined by benzoin resin, smooth, creamy, milky and sweet. The vanilla reveals floral, spicy and subtly smoky nuances, which is certainly due to the different varieties of the fine spice. 45° also impresses with its excellent persistence and medium presence. This very harmonious blend of honey, vanilla and creamy, woody notes is very modern and cozy – ideal for anyone looking for a suitable fragrance for the cooler months of the year. Light and rather transparent, I find 45° a pleasant companion for any occasion. However, I hardly notice the heat emphasized in the press release in the composition. Despite all the feel-good moments, the eau de parfum has a rather cool effect on me. Another exceptional fragrance from this new line, which skillfully reflects the class and sophistication of the French brand Trudon.
Midnight Omen – Signs of the night
With Midnight Omen, Trudon once again plunges into darkness. The name alone sounds mysterious, mystical and enigmatic. What midnight omen will the traditional fragrance house present to us here? Emilie Bouge was once again the perfumer for this creation, combining mandarin, peony, iris, saffron, violet, leather, cashmeran, sandalwood, ambergris, patchouli, musk and moss.
Midnight Omen is a multi-layered, woody-amber fragrance that evokes the allure of the unknown. Enigmatic and bold, it hints at omens – good or bad – and keeps the wearer guessing. Seduction, danger, intrigue: every note whispers a secret.
Fruity-tart mandarin and spicy-hot saffron open Midnight Omen, in which wonderfully soft, gentle suede notes soon spread out, creamily underpinned by iris and delicately powdered with violet. Cashmeran provides additional softness and fluffy accents, which combine with ambery, balsamic-woody facets to create a really great, atmospheric composition. As a lover of leather-iris fragrances, Midnight Omen is exactly my cup of tea. And despite the midnight theme, the eau de parfum is surprisingly light, rather transparent, with a medium presence and excellent longevity. Anyone who appreciates creamy, soft fragrances with supple suede, woody-warm and ambery-powdery nuances should definitely take note of Midnight Oud from the Trudon Nuit Rouge Collection. A pleasant and cozy companion for any occasion, which I would rather wear in autumn and winter or even on cooler spring days. Really great and a worthy conclusion to this very special new line from Trudon.
