It’s a Match-A by Versatile – Brunch to go as a roll-on [+ prize draw]

The French niche fragrance label Versatile serves us an olfactory delicacy with It’s a Match-A. No matter how you look at it – everything simply fits with Versatile. Even the name says it all: uncomplicated, unisex, clean and with a clear concept. Instead of pompous flacons and poetic descriptions, the young label focuses on one thing above all: a positive attitude, joie de vivre and suitability for everyday use. And yes, roll-ons that you can easily slip into your bag and casually apply between Pilates, Zoom calls and after-work prosecco.

Matcha – green powder with power

Matcha is much more than just a trendy drink: the bright green powder has a tradition in Japan that goes back over a thousand years. Originally, Buddhist monks brought the tea plant from China to Japan, where its preparation developed into a real culture. Matcha is still an integral part of the Chanoyu tea ceremony there today.

But what is so special about matcha? It’s the production process. The tea bushes are shaded around three to four weeks before harvesting. This allows the leaves to produce more chlorophyll and amino acids, which later provide the characteristic sweet, umami flavor. After harvesting, the leaves are first steamed, then dried and then the stems and leaf veins are removed. This produces the preliminary stage of matcha – tencha – which is ground into an extremely fine powder in traditional stone mills. This elaborate procedure produces genuine matcha.

To this day, the best matcha varieties come from three Japanese regions: Uji, Nishio and Kagoshima. In addition to the special, intense color and characteristic taste, matcha connoisseurs also love the special effect of the tea: the caffeine it contains makes the drink alert and increases concentration. The amino acid L-theanine also has a calming effect. This combination makes matcha a gentle stimulant that stimulates both body and mind.

It’s a Match-A – All You Can Smell

Perfumer Amélie Bourgeois was responsible for the creative realization of the fragrance and combined the ingredients green tea, milk, green notes, blueberry, vanilla, gourmand notes, sugar and pistachio. It’s a Match-A is not intended to be a classic tea fragrance, not a typical matcha, but a reminiscence of a delicious brunch buffet with fresh fruit, pancakes and all kinds of delicacies.

Matcha has now become a lifestyle statement. Whether as a latte, in an energy ball or in shower gel – matcha stands for wellness, detox and also a bit for the attitude of the bobos, the bourgeois bohemians, as the trend-conscious urban scene is known, who always know how to present themselves. The French niche fragrance brand Versatile takes a tongue-in-cheek approach to all of this in It’s a Match-A, serving us not just another green, bitter-tart tea fragrance, but an olfactory brunch buffet with milk foam, warmth and sweet surprises.

For all its lightness, Versatile remains serious when it comes to responsibility. All ingredients are transparently disclosed and free from questionable additives. The fragrances are created in small batches from recycled materials and are produced exclusively in Europe. The label is also socially committed. A portion of the proceeds regularly goes to Ruban Rose, an organization dedicated to breast cancer research.

What does It’s a Match-A smell like?

Milky, creamy, greenish – It’s a Match-A starts with wonderful matcha latte notes, which are soon joined by buttery and vanilla-sugary tea nuances. The fruity accents of blueberry are also clearly perceptible. At the heart of the composition, however, is the matcha, tart, greenish, flowing, yet wonderfully creamy, soft and milky, before nutty pistachio notes make themselves felt in the base, bringing the creation to an incredibly harmonious close.

What atmosphere does the fragrance create?

The alcohol-free formulation creates a very calm and relaxed atmosphere right from the start, which I really like. I can really relate to the inspiration of a sumptuous brunch buffet with pancakes and matcha. Even avocado toast fits seamlessly into the picture with its buttery, creamy appearance. Fragrant brunch at its best!

Who is It’s a Match-A suitable for?

A must-try for Versatile and Matcha fans anyway and for everyone else who loves unusual creations with unconventional ingredients and greenish, gourmand tea fragrances. Unisex, suitable for everyday wear and the office, just as suitable for a Zoom call as for a Pilates lesson or yoga session. The French niche fragrance house is once again sharing its creative way of thinking about fragrances with us, making the brunch perfume It’s a Match-A the logical next step after the roast chicken cannabis fragrance La Foncedalle, which you can win in our prize draw.
