Love-O-Matic from Room 1015 – Love story in spin cycle

My last post featured an interview with Dr. Mike, the founder of Room 1015, in which he not only explained to us how rock’n’roll, fragrances and a doctorate in pharmacy go together, but also the story behind Love-O-Matic. The pictures already give it away: washing machines are the theme, or more precisely: laundromats. Perhaps a somewhat unusual source of inspiration for an eau de parfum at first, but on closer inspection of the interview, it makes perfect sense.

Room 1015 - Love-O-Matic

Fresh laundry. Naked skin. The scent of detergent and fabric softener. The monotonous hum of the machines. Hot steam. Laundromats are rarely romantic, but that is precisely why they are so fascinating. For Dr. Mike, they were – as already mentioned – the starting point for Love-O-Matic. An everyday place where strangers meet and share a casual familiarity for a limited time. Stripped of everyday roles, surrounded by textiles that are fresher, purer than oneself. It is a quietly vulnerable setting: clean, warm, open.

Love-O-Matic – Between the wash cycle and eye contact

I only know laundromats personally from movies, in which they always exude a special atmosphere. Beige tones, retro tiles, fluorescent tubes. Whether the laundromat used by Dr. Mike as a source of inspiration looks the same or whether it is an ultra-modern, shiny chrome version remains to be seen. The visuals around Love-O-Matic suggest a mixture: White, black and pink dominate, along with chrome-plated surfaces. Somewhere between nostalgia and pop-futurism.

Olfactorily, Dr. Mike and perfumer Jérôme di Marino translate this scenario into three main accords: clean notes, bubblegum and ambrette. For the pair, they form the perfect tension between purity and attraction, between everyday life and charge. The official ingredients are strawberry, blackcurrant, lemon, gourmand notes, ambrette, musk and cedarwood, which combine to create a fragrance that is both playful and subtle.

In Love-O-Matic, sweet fruits meet the powdery velvety quality of ambrette seeds, delicate bubblegum notes and that molecular warmth that immediately evokes associations: static electricity, tumble dryers, a hint of fabric softener in the air. The strawberry sweetness combines with the tart freshness of blackcurrant, accompanied by a dash of lemon. An opening that is lively and cheerful. As the fragrance progresses, the bubblegum notes become more prominent, reminiscent of pink bubblegum bubbles, nostalgic yet with a modern twist. They are accompanied by powdery-creamy facets, carried by ambrette seeds, musk and cedarwood, which lend the composition a velvety softness.

Love-O-Matic is lucid, shimmering, almost weightless. A transparent fragrance with a palpable presence. Oscillating between purity and sensuality, lightness and depth. A contrast that seems almost impossible to resolve. And yet Room 1015 succeeds in doing just that with this creation. Subtly soapy, accompanied by a subtly artificial strawberry note, the fragrance remains wonderfully clean, like immaculately soft laundry on warm skin. Romantic, intimate and cozy, Love-O-Matic is a successful balancing act between fruity bubblegum sweetness, powdery feel-good notes and musky freshness close to the skin. An olfactory eye contact that lasts a moment too long. Charged with the electric tension that arises when a fleeting encounter could become something more. Summery, airy, transparent – ideal for anyone who loves soft, molecular compositions with fresh, underwear vibes. Unisex with a feminine twist, uncomplicated and wearable for any occasion.
