In the third and for now last article on the new Night Fever Collection by Maison Mat ine, I introduce you to the two fragrances Shifumi and Disco Inferno. In my previous articles Night Fever Collection by Maison Matine – Scent until dawn and Bain de Minuit and Faire le Mur by Maison Matine – Night Fever Collection Part II, I already talked about the new line from the French niche fragrance label, which is known for its beautiful, optimistic fragrances and unconventionally colorful design – both of which simply put you in a good mood and put a smile on your face. Today, the last two creations in this party night collection, which comprises a total of five eaux de parfum.
Shifumi – rock, paper, scissors
In addition to today’s protagonist from Maison Matine, Shifumi also refers to the well-known game of rock, paper, scissors, which is probably familiar to every child. In French, it is called Chifoumi – a reference to the Japanese exclamation “Shi-Fu-Mi”, which probably means “one-two-three” and replaces the German “Stein-Schere-Papier” or “Schnick-Schnack-Schnuck”.
The olfactory version of the game is Shifumi, an eau de parfum created by perfumers Marine Mercé and Florian Gallo. Marine Mercé has already delighted us with Ukhu Pacha from the Voyager Collection and Un Jour sans Fin from the Night Fever Collection – the latter is an incredibly delicious pistachio gourmand that I can only recommend to you.
The perfumers use a whole range of olfactory delights for Shifumi: Bergamot, grapefruit, mandarin, maritime notes, magnolia, apple, orange blossom, cardamom, Virginia cedarwood, moss, vetiver and white musk.
What does Shifumi by Maison Matine smell like?
Refreshing, vitalizing and full of energy, Shifumi kicks off the fragrance. A colorful mix of lively, tangy-sour and tart citrus fruits meets the floral aquatic nuances of magnolia and fine, subtle marine accents. The orange blossom brings fruity-creamy facets into play, accompanied by sweet-tart apple and light, clean cedarwood and powdery-crystalline musk. Transparent and airy, Shifumi presents itself as a calm, relaxed blend of citrusy-creamy and fresh notes that is very summery, carefree and casual.
Do you play with Shifumi Schnick-Schnack-Schnuck?
For all those who love citrusy-lucid and refreshingly creamy fragrances with maritime vibes and floral undertones, Shifumi by Maison Matine should be a safe bet. Very summery, sunny and cheerful, the fragrance has a light to medium presence and is just as long-lasting. It is definitely not a high performer, but an airy creation that is ideal for anyone who likes to reapply during the day or wants to wear a different fragrance in the morning than in the afternoon/evening. Uncomplicated and catchy, I see Shifumi as a pleasant companion for almost any occasion in the warmer seasons – whether for work, leisure or sport. With Shifumi you are perfectly scented everywhere.
Disco Inferno – When light meets darkness
My friend, the Duden dictionary lists a number of unpleasant meanings for the term inferno, which I will kindly spare you. I am absolutely certain that Maison Matine is dealing with an entirely positive inferno. Perfumer Marine Mercé was once again responsible for the creation of Eau de Parfum
What does Disco Inferno by Maison Matine smell like?
The opening of Disco Inferno is light, transparent and airy thanks to aquatic florals and fresh rose nuances, while oud and patchouli provide dark, gently smoky and subtly earthy accents in the background. Milky-creamy facets lend the composition a comforting, enveloping character that envelops the other ingredients like a veil. Disco Inferno gradually fades away with pleasant, floral-woody and earthy-smoky nuances.
How much Inferno is in Disco Inferno?
The eau de parfum by Maison Matine is an exciting mix of flowers, woods and cozy, creamy notes that combines fruity-fresh, floral moments with woody-dark, smoky-earthy facets, rounded off by a pleasantly milky and fluffy-soft base. Lucid, airy and light, Disco Inferno is not a loud fragrance caliber, but a finely balanced and harmoniously composed melange that could also make oud accessible to all those who may have difficulty with the ingredient or would like to try it out first. A transparent and well-balanced, calming fragrance with a medium presence and good longevity that can be worn all year round and on any occasion.
