Voyager Collection by Maison Matine: Tu te Calmes, Arashi no Umi and Ukhu Pacha

After the first two lines, Origine Collection and Refresh Collection, Maison Matine is continuing its olfactory journey with the Voyager Collection. While the initial focus was on the present, everyday life, life and then on the experiences of 2020 and 2021, the focus is now on faraway horizons, the unknown and the fantastic. The Voyager Collection is an invitation to cross borders, to create new worlds and to realize and redefine yourself in the process.

The Maison Matine Arashi No Umi perfume bottle from the Voyager Collection lies on light-colored paper with flower petals. The colorful illustration on the glass depicts a playful, Japanese-inspired scene and alludes to the longing for distant horizons and mysterious islands.

With Tu te Calmes, Arashi No Umi and Ukhu Pacha, Maison Matine opens another chapter in which spirituality, curiosity and fantasy take center stage. You can find my previous reviews of the Origine Collection and Refresh Collection here:

Tu te Calmes – Journey to infinity

With Tu te Calmes, Maison Matine takes us on an imaginary olfactory expedition into space. The fragrance is inspired by the desire to transcend boundaries and explore further and further – into the unknown, into infinity. It tells “the story of an overenthusiastic traveler” who explores the universe full of curiosity and exuberance. The name itself – Tu te Calmes, meaning “Calm down” – forms a tongue-in-cheek contrast to the boundless dynamism and energy that underline the restless departure into space. The illustration by Mathilde Purseigle reveals a colorful visual language: pop, playful, humorous and inspired by the Japanese aesthetics of the 1980s. Perfumer Bérénice Watteau was responsible for the olfactory realization, combining the ingredients cardamom, neroli, lemon peel, fig leaves, petitgrain, Virginia cedarwood, vetiver and musk for Tu te Calmes.

Tu te Calmes starts fresh, citrusy and bright, with orangey, aromatic neroli and tart lemon peel. Airy, molecular-powdery accents are soon added, as well as the fruity-green notes of fig leaves, which lend the composition bright, summery nuances. Radiant, clean cedarwood and creamy vetiver combine with crystalline musk to create a gentle, light woody finish.

The eau de parfum is transparent, airy, minimalist and fruity-clean – bright, fresh and at the same time carried by a calming tranquillity. The fig is not overly dominant in the composition, rather subdued in nature and underlining the greenish freshness of the fragrance. A gentle, springy-summery evergreen that beautifully combines fruity and cozy-comforting accents with citrusy freshness and clean woody notes. Presence and longevity are in the light to medium range, making Tu te Calmes the ideal choice for anyone who wants to wear different fragrances throughout the day. For me, the eau de parfum is perfect for the morning or for layering. Top!

Arashi No Umi – Island of Heaven

The name Arashi No Umi comes from the Japanese and means “sea of storms”. This name is also given to a large, dark plain on the moon, which is dotted with countless craters. An unreal, mysterious place that stimulates the imagination. Maison Matine turns it into a “heavenly island”, a utopian world that exists far from our known borders and is governed by its own laws. The colorful illustration by Nakamura Kyoko, inspired by Asian comic aesthetics, playfully picks up on this fantasy world. This eau de parfum also comes from perfumer Bérénice Watteau, who created the fragrance notes for Arashi No Umi. Apple, freesia, peach, jasmine, damask rose, ylang-ylang, Virginia cedarwood, sandalwood and Musk united.

The opening of Arashi No Umi is fruity and floral. Velvety peach meets tart apple, accompanied by the aquatic, transparent-fresh nuances of freesia. The creation is very gentle, very calm, light, delicate and airy. Jasmine, ylang-ylang and rose lend the composition milky-creamy, delicate floral accents that underline the elegant and rather cool character of Arashi No Umi and create a harmonious transition to the base. Here, cedarwood and musk provide crystalline, molecular and clean nuances that merge with a soft sandalwood fluffiness.

Arashi No Umi from the Voyager Collection by Maison Matine is a fragrance for minimalists, for fans of clean scents with a subtle fruity-floral finish. This eau de parfum mirrors the silvery sheen and cool clarity of the moon in a wonderful way. Anyone who likes light, unagitated and harmoniously composed clean fragrances should definitely take note of Arashi No Umi. A fragrance that can be worn for every occasion and every occasion, which I tend to wear in the warmer months of the year. Absolute test recommendation!

Ukhu Pacha – Journey to the underworld

This short review series on Maison Matine concludes with the eau de parfum Ukhu Pacha. The name comes from Inca mythology and refers to the “inner world” or “underworld”, a hidden spiritual level beyond our visible reality. The creation takes up this inspiration and transforms it into an olfactory journey to the threshold between reality, imagination and spirituality. The illustration is by Caroline Gibaut, who is known for her expressive, colorful depictions of figures whose bodies she often crowns with bird heads. In Ukhu Pacha, she also interprets the theme with a lively, colorful scene in which dance, movement and ecstasy make the energy of the fragrance visible. Perfumer Marine Mercé created the olfactory experience with the ingredients bergamot, salty and maritime notes, coconut, tonka bean, orange blossom, tuberose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, driftwood, gourmand notes and vanilla.

The Maison Matine Ukhu Pacha perfume bottle from the Voyager Collection lies on yellow and white striped fabric. The illustration by Caroline Gibaut shows colourful figures in motion and symbolizes spirituality, dance and energy, which visually underline the theme of the fragrance.

Ukhu Pacha starts the fragrance with a surprisingly powerful and colorful trail. While the other two candidates in Maison Matine’s Voyager Collection were delicate creatures, the third and final eau de parfum is full of presence and opulence. A colorful blend of fruity, tangy and gourmand-sweet caramel notes combines with milky coconut and creamy flowers, accompanied by vanilla facets. What fruit do I perceive in the creation? Mango, pineapple? The fragrance has a tropical feel, with subtle salty accents hinting at a balmy sea breeze that provides lightness and gentle aquatic tendencies. The driftwood lends the composition additional dry woody notes that are subtly perceptible and elegantly interweave the nuances.

Ukhu Pacha by Maison Matine is a sunny, summery and present mix of fruity, tropical and floral notes that is gourmand-spicy and caramel-delicious. I really like this underworld because it exudes absolute vacation vibes. Perfect for anyone who loves lush fruit and flower combinations with a touch of coconut and a beach feeling. Modern, fun-loving and carefree, this eau de parfum is the ideal companion for everyday life, the office and leisure in the warmer months of the year. If you are looking for a fragrance that instantly makes the sun rise, this is it. A crowning finale to the Voyager Collection and my series on Maison Matine.
