In the last few days, the sample of Neroli Mediterraneo<\/a> by Perris Monte Carlo<\/a> fluttered onto my desk, and I remembered that a similar sample of Vetiver Java<\/a> has been waiting for some time. That fits wonderful! So the two of them get a chance today. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Perris Monte Carlo is long-established at Aus Liebe zum Duft<\/a> and also here in the Duft-Tagebuch. Already successful in our range for ten years, the creations of the Italian brand based in Monte Carlo have been represented here in this fragrance blog several times, even if the last post was a while ago. Neroli Mediterraneo – Italy Collection<\/h2>\n\n

Neroli, the essential oil from the flowers of the bitter orange tree, has been enchanting for centuries. The name Neroli supposedly comes from Anne-Marie de La Tr\u00e9moille (1642-1722), the Duchess of Bracciano and Princess of Nerola, married into the noble family of the Orsinis, who owned a castello in the central Italian town of Nerola. The scent of bitter orange blossoms was her favorite and so, according to legend, she gave the essential oil the name Neroli.<\/p>\n\n

The destination of our fragrance journey with Perris Monte Carlo is Calabria, the foot tip of the Italian boot, famous for its delicious citrus fruits such as bergamot, citron and also bitter orange. Perfumer Gian Luca Perris combined for Neroli Mediterraneo – which, by the way, belongs to the Italy Collection – the fragrance notes bitter orange, mandarin, bergamot, ginger, geranium, neroli, orange blossom, petitgrain, Szechuan pepper, cedarwood, iris<\/strong> and musk<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Kissed by the sun, caressed by the wind, nourished by the earth, nursed by the sea.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n

Fragrant Southern Italy<\/h2>\n\n

Refreshing and sunny, Neroli Mediterraneo starts the fragrance with fine and radiant citrus nuances, which are soon joined by creamy and clean-looking notes. Very light and airy, the creation appears. Ginger and Szechuan pepper set gentle accents with subtle spiciness, but right at the forefront of the fragrance stage are the hesperides, in the form of fruits and flowers. <\/p>\n\n

They instantly give the fragrance a relaxed, serene mood, clearly reminiscent of vacation. Under the southern sun in a hammock in the shade to while away the afternoon. From afar, the scent of bitter orange blossoms, which also carries a certain coolness. I also perceive light hints of sunscreen, which underline the Mediterranean character of the eau de parfum.<\/p>\n

Neroli Mediterraneo by Perris Monte Carlo is the summer fragrance par excellence. Fine citrus meets creamy and floral notes, underpinned by light and delicate woods and musk. As light, as summery and carefree as a vacation day in the south, the creation is perfect for those who are still looking for a fragrance for the warm season, who like soft and unobtrusive citric fragrances and clean creations. In my eyes, an absolute allrounder in terms of occasion, age and gender. <\/p>\n\n

Vetiver Java – Black Collection<\/h2>\n\n

The Black Collection of the brand Perris Monte Carlo includes Vetiver Java, which – as far as I want to go out on a limb – should turn out differently than our first candidate today. The main ingredient of the creation can already be seen in the name: Vetiver from Java.<\/p>\n\n

I have smelled different qualities of vetiver before – vetiver from Haiti, bourbon vetiver – with strong and intense notes, but they seemed too clean, too transparent, too monotonous. One day I discovered a vetiver from the island of Java, less used in perfumery, but which fascinated me. It seemed sharp, smoky burnt, but at the same time surprisingly floral with green and spicy nuances. It wasn’t love at first sight, but ultimately a certain arrogance in intensity won me over. – Gian Luca Perris<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Gian Luca Perris combined this particular vetiver<\/strong> in Vetiver Java with the fragrance notes of bergamot, grapefruit, Szechuan pepper, geranium, ambergris<\/strong> and musk<\/strong>, bringing together the Far Eastern root with Mediterranean-inspired notes. I am curious!<\/p>\n\n

Asia meets Mediterranean<\/h3>\n\n

Our second eau de parfum today also opens with citrus notes, but here they are much more tart and edgy than in Neroli Mediterraneo. Cool, earthy and fresh is the opening of Vetiver Java, also thanks to the tangy nuances of grapefruit and bergamot, which give the opening a beautiful citric note. <\/p>\n\n

The vetiver itself underlines the greenish-fresh accents of the opening, gives it a woody earthiness, dry, rather dark and deep. A subtle smoky note pervades the creation. Gradually, the eau de parfum becomes warmer and more sweet. Ambergris and musk provide soft-leathery and woody-powdery notes in the finish, which unite with the vetiver nuances and allow the fragrance to end so beautifully.<\/p>\n

Vetiver Java is an elegant and fresh vetiver fragrance, to which a bouquet of citrus fruits in the opening give Mediterranean lightness, accented by Szechuan pepper and finally with in a base of warm and creamy notes. Endowed with good presence and durability, yet never too intense, the eau de parfum from the house of Perris Monte Carlo is perfect for all occasions that life has to offer. Also, in the matter of season, age or gender Vetiver Java is up for anything. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n
