Racyne<\/a> is a variation of the French word \u201cracine<\/em>,\u201d which means \u201croot\u201d in English. And that is exactly what this Parisian brand is all about: fragrances that ground us, evoke memories, and reconnect us more deeply with what we perceive and feel. <\/p>\n\n

For my olfactory speed dating session, six fragrances from Racyne are in the running this time: Garden Song<\/a>, Verdeur<\/a>, Sun Impression<\/a>, Santal Ceremony<\/a>, Quelque Part<\/a>, and La Terre, La Nuit<\/a>. Just like with Akro<\/a>, I\u2019ll first test each one on a test strip and then on my skin. Of course, without looking at the fragrance notes beforehand. Only then do I compare them. Let\u2019s see which fragrance sticks with me, which one surprises me, and which ones end up getting a second date. <\/p>\n

Date #1: Garden Song<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Test strip:<\/strong> Airy, light, and wonderfully summery. Greenish notes evoke leaves and freshly cut grass, with delicate floral accents floating in between. A subtle aquatic nuance adds an extra touch of freshness to the composition. Garden Song feels carefree, cheerful, and very spring-like. To me, the name is truly perfect. <\/p>\n\n

Skin:<\/strong> Garden Song strikes me as a bit more tart and green. Leafy and grassy notes come more to the forefront, accompanied by delicate, fresh citrus nuances and a subtle aquatic quality. Floral notes, on the other hand, are less noticeable to me. Nevertheless, the fragrance remains wonderfully spring-like and summery. Transparent, airy, and light, yet by no means fleeting\u2014it has a lovely presence. <\/p>\n\n

Conclusion:<\/strong> Garden Song is a bright, greenish-fresh fragrance that, to me, clearly smells like spring and summer. Leaves, grass, delicate blossoms, and a subtle, aquatic freshness come together to create an airy, carefree blend that feels light yet is still distinctly noticeable. Cheerful, natural, and uncomplicated. <\/p>\n\n

Test strip:<\/strong> Verdeur opens on the scent strip with peppery, tingling, and slightly spicy notes. These are joined by woody and earthy nuances that instantly remind me of the forest and damp soil, initially giving the fragrance a somewhat dark character. Gradually, it becomes more powdery and creamy. A slightly carrot-like, sweet facet briefly reminds me of ambrette seeds, while the woody, earthy undertone remains. <\/p>\n\n

Skin:<\/strong> Verdeur comes across as greenish, earthy, woody, and forest-like, though significantly less sharp than on the test strip. After just a short time, a powdery creaminess emerges in the scent profile, accompanied by a subtle, earthy sweetness. Overall, the composition remains transparent, airy, and light. Very calm, serene, and almost meditative. <\/p>\n\n

Conclusion:<\/strong> To me, Verdeur really does have a very grounding and soothing quality. It\u2019s not a classic fresh green scent, but rather a softer, more profound interpretation with woody and powdery-creamy facets. Unhurried, balanced, and wonderfully relaxing. <\/p>\n\n

Date #3: Sun Impression<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Test strip:<\/strong> On paper, Sun Impression comes across as sunny, summery, and honey-sweet. Yellow flowers immediately come to mind\u2026 perhaps mimosa? I also think I detect orange blossom, with a subtle citrus undertone. At first, the fragrance seems downright radiant yellow, airy, and light. Gradually, it becomes fresher and clearer without losing its sunny radiance. Despite its lightness, Sun Impression has a very beautiful presence. <\/p>\n\n

Skin:<\/strong> Sun Impression comes across as more tart, fresher, and less sweet. Delicate floral notes blend with fruity, zesty accents to create a sunny, summery impression. I still suspect the presence of mimosa and\/or orange blossom in the scent. As it develops, the fragrance becomes softer and creamier without losing its lightness. To me, it\u2019s a carefree, feel-good scent. <\/p>\n\n

Conclusion:<\/strong> Sun Impression is a wonderfully balanced fragrance that blends freshness and soft floral notes in a very natural way. Nothing feels overpowering or too sweet; rather, the composition remains clear, light, and pleasantly uncomplicated. A fragrance that instantly brings a smile to your face and feels wonderfully effortless to wear. <\/p>\n\n

Test strip:<\/strong> Warm, woody, and spicy\u2014that\u2019s my first impression of Santal Ceremony. A peppery, tingling sharpness initially adds subtle accents and brings a touch of excitement to the composition. At the same time, the fragrance feels very calm and almost meditative. Gradually, softer, creamier facets emerge, making the creation seem even gentler and more rounded. Overall, the eau de parfum feels warm, balanced, and very pleasant. <\/p>\n\n

Skin:<\/strong> On my skin, Santal Ceremony becomes even a touch softer and smoother. The woody and spicy notes remain clearly recognizable, but lose some of their sharpness and blend into a warm, gentle composition. These are joined by amber-like, balsamic facets that lend the fragrance a cozy warmth. The overall effect is very relaxed, calm, and finely balanced. A rather subtle woody fragrance\u2014a soft, harmonious interpretation that clings pleasantly close to the skin. <\/p>\n\n

Conclusion:<\/strong> I like Santal Ceremony so much precisely because of its calm nature. The blend of warm woods, spices, and that soft creaminess feels wonderfully harmonious and almost a little meditative. A fragrance that helps you unwind. <\/p>\n\n

Date #5: Quelque Part<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Test strip:<\/strong> At first, Quelque Part reminds me of something milky and creamy, infused with a subtle mineral coolness. Added to this are nutty, subtly resinous, and light woody notes that lend the fragrance a gentle depth. The composition feels somehow familiar, yet remains a bit of a mystery. <\/p>\n\n

Skin:<\/strong> Quelque Part is much more pronounced. The creamy base note remains, but now takes on a gourmand, slightly fruity nuance. Soon, a warm sweetness reminds me of caramelized sugar. This is accompanied by amber, milky, and mineral facets, as well as something that makes me think of rice or grains. Nevertheless, the fragrance remains surprisingly airy, transparent, and rather light. <\/p>\n\n

Conclusion:<\/strong> I find Quelque Part particularly intriguing because the scent is hard to pin down. Milky, mineral, slightly gourmand, and with that warm, toasty sweetness, it feels familiar and yet somehow foreign. To me, it\u2019s an unusual, very distinctive composition that I still need to think about a bit more. <\/p>\n\n

Date #6: La Terre, La Nuit<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Test strip:<\/strong> Greenish, tart, and slightly herbal, with woody notes and a fresh, almost citrusy quality. On paper, La Terre, La Nuit initially comes across as crisp and somewhat edgier, with a cool, earthy undertone. <\/p>\n\n

Skin:<\/strong> Here, La Terre, La Nuit comes across as distinctly earthier and darker. Green, woody, and mossy facets take center stage, accompanied, to my nose, by a clearly perceptible note of patchouli. At first, the fragrance seems very distinctive and almost a bit unwieldy. Gradually, it becomes softer, gentler, and creamier, without completely shedding its dark, earthy undertone. For me, La Terre, La Nuit remains hard to pin down, and for that very reason, it\u2019s not entirely easy to describe. <\/p>\n\n

Conclusion:<\/strong> For me, La Terre, La Nuit is the most unusual fragrance in this collection. Although tuberose and rose are listed among the notes, I barely detect the floral aspect. Instead, earth, moss, patchouli, and dark woods dominate on my skin. As it develops, the composition does become softer and creamier, but it retains its mysterious, somewhat untamed character. Intriguing, but definitely not a fragrance that I can fully grasp right away. <\/p>\n\n

What’s left after six dates?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Santal Ceremony<\/a>, Sun Impression<\/a>, and Garden Song<\/a> have really stuck with me. Three very different fragrances, each of which won me over in its own way. Quelque Part<\/a>, on the other hand, is one I\u2019d like to wear for a longer period of time. The scent is simply too unique to make a definitive judgment about it after just one brief encounter. <\/p>\n\n

My favorite of the round: Santal Ceremony.<\/p>\n\n
