Following the neo-gourmand Salty Kiss<\/a>, today\u2019s lineup features another gourmand\u2013 though one dedicated to a completely different olfactory theme \u2013 as well as a floral fragrance. Maddy by The Different Company \u2013 Oh, Madeleine!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Perfumer V\u00e9ronique Nyberg was the creative force behind the second Gourmand fragrance in the Extraits Extr\u00eame Collection, and this one, too, features not only classic dessert notes but also facets that could make it a modern neo-gourmand. But what is Maddy<\/a> all about, anyway? Of course, Maddy is a tribute to the French pastry madeleine, which was made world-famous by Marcel Proust and, to this day, symbolizes the close connection between taste, scent, and memory like almost nothing else. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Top notes: Lemon zest
Middle notes: Salty notes, gourmand notes, rum
Base notes: Vanilla, toasted almond<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Maddy opens with a buttery sweetness\u2014heavenly and gourmand, reminiscent of freshly baked madeleines and scented with delicate lemon zest. A dash of rum seems to be present as well, as the fragrance has a slightly tipsy, liqueur-like quality. Vanilla and the creamy, nutty notes of toasted almonds evoke more pastry-like moments and intensify the gourmand facets of the creation. A hint of salt rounds out the Extrait de Parfum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maddy by The Different Company is a fragrance for anyone who loves bold, assertive gourmand scents with sweet, liqueur-like pastry notes. It\u2019s definitely a creation that\u2019s perfectly suited for the cooler months, when it can truly showcase its full potential. I\u2019d rate Maddy\u2019s sillage as medium to strong, and its longevity matches that \u2013 making it a true Extrait Extr\u00eame. That\u2019s why I see this fragrance as more suited for everyday wear, for going out, or for snuggling up on the couch on a rainy fall afternoon, rather than for the office. A wonderful and mouth-wateringly delicious Extrait de Parfum that\u2019s sure to delight all fans of pastry-inspired scents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crazy Tubereuse \u2013 A Blossom of its Senses<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tuberose is a flower you either love or hate. There\u2019s not much in between. I used to have my share of trouble with the night hyacinth, too, but I\u2019ve since come to terms with it and can certainly appreciate its unique qualities. A \u201cCrazy Tubereuse\u201d<\/a>\u2014a fragrance described as \u201ccrazy\u201d and part of the Extraits Extr\u00eame Collection\u2026 well, that\u2019s something I have a great deal of respect for. At the same time, I\u2019m certain that perfumer Alexandra Monet has crafted the scent to be very balanced and harmonious. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Top notes: Black pepper, aldehydes
Middle notes: Tuberose, jasmine
Base notes: Leather, styrax resin<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Crazy Tubereuse opens with peppery, fresh aldehydes, just as the fragrance pyramid suggests. Dense, molecular, velvety-soft, and with that typical aldehyde note that\u2019s fruity, floral, and milky. The tuberose is also already detectable. Its creamy, greenish floral notes don\u2019t come alone, but are accompanied by jasmine with a slight bubblegum touch. This duo packs a punch. Enchanting and seductive, the two white-flowered notes not only share an intense rendezvous but also seem to be engaged in an olfactory showdown. Soft, light leather dares to join in as a soothing element, gradually calming the flowers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wow, this Extrait de Parfum isn\u2019t for anyone who\u2019s skeptical of white flowers or hesitant about floral scents. Even for someone new to niche perfumes, Crazy Tubereuse might be too much \u2013 unless you\u2019re one of those fragrance fans wanting something loud and bold right from the start. I don\u2019t regard the creation being too \u201ccrazy,\u201d but it\u2019s definitely a powerhouse \u2013 an olfactory force to be reckoned with. Those who prefer opulent floral compositions featuring tuberose and other white flowers will likely love this fragrance. It\u2019s not for the office or everyday wear\u2013 it\u2019s more of a creation for the evening or a night out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
