Palm Oases – Off to the Caribbean beach<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

The Caribbean island of Saint Martin is our destination: a small, but all the more diverse island in the French Antilles. With an area of just around 90 km\u00b2, it seems manageable, but surprises with a special feature. It is divided into two parts. The northern part belongs to France, while the south, Sint Maarten, is part of the Dutch kingdom. This division dates back to the 17th century and still characterizes the island today. Linguistically, culturally and also in everyday life. In the French north, for example, people pay in euros and speak French, while other influences are noticeable in the southern part. <\/p>\n\n

Despite its comparatively small area, Saint Martin is home to over 70,000 people, which is significantly more than you would expect. The majority of them live on the Dutch side, which is also the most densely populated. The French part, on the other hand, is considered quieter and more relaxed.
