Milk<\/a> is Commodity’s homage to security, warmth, and familiar closeness. And yet this is not a classic cozy scent, but a modern gourmand. Milky, sweet, creamy notes reminiscent of vanilla, marshmallow, or warm skin are at the heart of this perfume trio\u2014intimate, soothing, and at the same time unusual in their clarity. While many other gourmand fragrances quickly become overly opulent and almost sugary, Commodity<\/a> shows with Milk that there is another way \u2013 refined and minimalist. A fragrance that is cozy and gourmand without sacrificing lightness and transparency. Modern, balanced, incredibly comforting.<\/p>\n\n\n

Yesterday, I also published a review of Juice<\/a>\u2014a fragrance that reflects Commodity’s philosophy in a refreshingly fruity and energetic way. Today, we turn our attention to the second creation, Milk: a fragrance that is as intimate as it is intense, depending on whether you wear it as part of the Personal, Expressive, or Bold Collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christelle Laprade – the nose behind Milk<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Perfumer Christelle Laprade was commissioned to create Milk. Raised in the south of France on the C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur, she first studied at the renowned ISIPCA in Versailles, laying the foundation for her career. Her first positions took her to international houses such as Expressions Parfum\u00e9es in Grasse, later to MANE in the USA, before she finally moved to Symrise’s creative studio in New York, where she still works today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Laprade likes to describe her style as a kind of \u201ctrash-glam.\u201d She does not smooth out contrasts, but deliberately juxtaposes them. Her creations feature creamy, gourmand notes as well as a modern structure. This interplay of warmth and clarity also characterizes Milk: a fragrance that exudes comfort and coziness without becoming too much, too opulent or too heavy. This is precisely Laprade’s strength. She creates fragrances that are both comforting and sophisticated.<\/p>\n\n\n

One fragrance, three variants – Milk in the test<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Milk demonstrates in a particularly exciting way how Commodity’s scent-space concept works. The perfume reinterprets its cozy gourmand base in each variant\u2014sometimes delicate and intimate, sometimes balanced and suitable for everyday wear, and finally seductive and sensual. The result is a trio based on a fundamental idea, yet offering three completely different olfactory experiences. Depending on the occasion and mood, Commodity Milk perfume can be worn and adapted individually. Let’s take a closer look at the individual variations of this gourmand fragrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milk- | Personal Collection<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A family vacation in the fall inspired perfumer Christelle Laprade to create Milk-<\/a>, with its campfires and roasted marshmallows. In the Personal Collection, she combined the ingredients gourmand notes, sesame, mahogany wood, tonka bean, cedarwood<\/strong>, and musk<\/strong> to create a fragrance that is \u201csoft and innocent.\u201d Milk- is a sweet temptation from the very first sniff. However, I find the sillage less intimate than the name suggests. I would definitely classify its presence as medium to good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creamy, soft, caramel-like, with delicate nutty nuances and notes of delicious vanilla tonka bean milk, Milk- evokes a fluffy, cozy atmosphere that feels so familiar, homely, and comfortable that you just want to immerse yourself in it and enjoy it. Have I found my ideal fall\/winter fragrance here? Or will it be one of the other two variants that I will give my heart to? Could it get any better? I will be able to answer these questions for you in a moment. In conclusion, Milk is a beautiful gourmand with a high feel-good factor and a genuine guarantee of enjoyment. Perfect for the cooler season, unisex, and absolutely suitable for everyday wear and the office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milk | Expressive Collection<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The inspiration of an autumn family vacation with a crackling campfire and sweet treats also remains with Milk<\/a> from the Expressive Collection. Here, Laprade subtly varies the composition by replacing cedarwood with milk. This results in the ingredients gourmand notes, sesame, mahogany wood, tonka bean, milk<\/strong>, and musk<\/strong> for the Commodity Milk perfume. I already perceived Milk as quite present \u2013 at least in the opening \u2013 so I am curious to see how the Expressive version turns out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milk also starts off soft, fluffy, and creamy with roasted sesame and delicately spicy tonka bean, which alternates between hay-like greenish coumarin nuances and dark vanilla facets. I find the coolness of the composition surprising, the clarity, a certain freshness that is certainly due to the accord of cold milk that Christelle Laprade has brought to the creation. It provides clean, minimalist, bright notes that are accompanied by delicious spices and irresistible gourmand accents. For me, Milk is wintery \u2013 a creation that reminds me of freshly fallen snow, Advent treats, and silvery shimmers. An exciting variation on this basic theme of a cozy gourmand, it opens up whole new facets and conjures up completely different images in my mind’s eye than Milk did. Milk is also more suitable for everyday use and the office, but for me \u2013 despite the winter associations \u2013 it is not exclusively limited to the cold season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milk+ | Bold Collection<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Finally, we have Milk+<\/a> from the Bold Collection, which reinterprets the inspiration of a family vacation in autumn. As a member of the line with the most extensive sillage\u2014Commodity itself speaks of room-filling projection\u2014I am curious to see what the perfume has to offer. Here, too, the perfumer has created a subtle variation on the ingredients. While the basic structure of gourmand notes, sesame, mahogany wood<\/strong>, and tonka bean<\/strong> remains the same, Milk+ adds ambergris<\/strong> and woods<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Commodity<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Milk+ starts off darker, warmer, and more opulent than the other two variants, without becoming oppressive or too heavy in any way. The Commodity Milk perfume from the Bold Collection retains its transparent structure, which unites all three fragrances. I perceive a subtle smokiness that blends beautifully with the dark vanilla notes of tonka bean and subtle earthy facets reminiscent of patchouli. Milk+ is slightly more tart and woody, yet this composition also captivates with wonderfully cozy and creamy-fluffy gourmand nuances, resulting in an exciting new interpretation of the autumn campfire theme. Personally, I don’t find Milk+ to be room-filling. For me, this fragrance also has a medium presence and good longevity, is suitable for everyday use and the office, and feels most at home in the cooler months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
