With the two eaux de parfum Danger Eau<\/a> and Billion Dollar Oud<\/a>, I would like to conclude our weekly series on House of Fanatics<\/a>. I have already introduced you to the first four creations from the Barcelona-based label in my articles House of Fanatics – The brand with the special bottles<\/a> and Wondermusk and Don’t Call Me Rose by House of Fanatics – Rebellion meets elegance<\/a>. <\/p>\n

I am particularly excited about today’s two fragrances. On the one hand, I always like to be surprised by fresh aquatic compositions, because admittedly these are not my preferred olfactory preference. But in recent years, I have come across many an aquatic fragrance that has managed to win me over. Let’s see how Danger Eau turns out. <\/p>\n\n

Then we have Billion Dollar Oud, a creation that makes me skeptical about its name. To be honest, I find the name rather bold and it also reminds me of existing fragrances from other brands. But I will of course take a neutral approach to testing the eaux de parfum in today’s review and who knows, maybe I will find a new favorite in one of the two compositions that I absolutely have to have. <\/p>\n\n

Danger Eau – Dangerous waters<\/h2>\n\n

In terms of fragrance notes, Danger Eau<\/a> reaches deep into the aquatic box. The ingredients mandarin, maritime notes, ozonic notes, juniper berries, iris, sandalwood, freesia, ambergris, benzoin resin<\/strong> and tonka bean<\/strong> hint at a powdery-fresh marine fragrance that could also have warm and sunny aspects. The official product text speaks of the “velvety sound of the waves” and “a sensual sea of musk”. <\/p>\n

In fact, with Danger Eau<\/a>, what you see is what you get. Right from the start, the fragrance presents itself as a light, maritime-aquatic freshie, from which I can sniff out citrusy-tart, sparkling-woody and powdery-creamy nuances. Not an aquatic firecracker, but absolutely finely composed, transparent and gentle. Danger Eau is very modern and relaxed and not as dangerous as the name would have us believe. Warm, ambery nuances gradually spread throughout the eau de parfum, creating pleasant moments that underline the serenity of the creation. <\/p>\n\n

Danger Eau is an uncomplicated, catchy aquatic fragrance that all lovers of maritime freshies can’t really go wrong with. Very gentle and rather restrained, the creation combines citrusy, sparkling, aquatic, powdery and creamy-warm nuances, evoking a refreshing, clean and aromatic fragrance that is sure to find many fans. Unisex with a tendency towards masculine, summery, sunny and suitable for every occasion. \ud83d\udc99<\/p>\n\n

Billion Dollar Oud – House of Fanatics<\/h2>\n\n

Now to the fragrance that irritates me by name – as if the bottle wasn’t reason enough for irritation. \ud83d\ude09 I may not like Billion Dollar Oud<\/a> as a name for a fragrance, but I find the ingredients of the creation more than appealing. Pink pepper, nutmeg, saffron, caramel, woods, cashmeran, vanilla, ambergris<\/strong> and eaglewood (oud)<\/strong> sound like a spicy, gourmand creation that could well be to my taste. House of Fanatics praises the eau de parfum as a “delight in this best-kept secret” and promises full-bodied: “Nothing in the world has ever been so addictive, unsurpassed and desirable.” <\/p>\n

Dark, spicy, leathery and medicinal, Billion Dollar Oud starts the fragrance and makes it clear right from the start who is in charge here. Powerful saffron meets smoky, dominant oud and the two seem to be on the same wavelength. Gradually, the two olfactory powerhouses calm each other down. Creamy-woody and ambery-powdery nuances gradually provide calm and serenity. A hint of sweetness pervades the creation, no doubt due to the caramel, which blends into the flowing, smooth and cozy notes of Billion Dollar Oud. In the base, the fragrance becomes somewhat lighter and ends with delicate, warm and woody-smoky facets. <\/p>\n\n

The eau de parfum from House of Fanatics is less gourmand and sweet than expected, but I actually quite like it. Certainly not a reinvention of the oud wheel, but not an oud rose either and I give House of Fanatics credit for that. It’s perfect for anyone who likes smoky, woody compositions with oud and saffron that start strongly and end gently. I would not consider the opening in particular to be suitable for everyday wear or the office. Rather a fragrance for the evening or special occasions, but one that can be worn regardless of the season. <\/p>\n\n
